Manager – Automation & Control Systems

Nord Gas Solutions is seeking an experienced and visionary Manager – Automation & Control Systems to lead and develop our Automation & Control Systems organization across both marine and onshore gas solutions.
The role combines strategic leadership, technology development, operational excellence, product ownership, and people leadership to ensure delivery of world-class automation, embedded control, and digital solutions supporting our products and services throughout the customer lifecycle.

The successful candidate will drive business performance, technology strategy, product development, innovation, and organizational capability while ensuring strong customer focus, profitability, and execution excellence. The role requires close collaboration with engineering, product management, project execution, sourcing, services, sales, and executive leadership teams globally.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic & Business Leadership

• Define and execute the Automation & Control Systems strategy aligned with Nord Gas Solutions’ business objectives.
• Develop technology and product roadmaps supporting future growth, competitiveness, and lifecycle valu
• Drive innovation in automation, digitalization, data analytics, diagnostics, cybersecurity, and AI-enabled solutions.
• Lead organizational development initiatives that strengthen capabilities, leadership, and operational performance.
• Contribute actively to company-wide strategy and business decisions as a member of the leadership team.

Product, Technology & Customer Value

• Lead the development and lifecycle management of automation and control solutions across marine and onshore applications.
• Balance customer requirements, functionality, quality, delivery performance, lifecycle support, and cost competitiveness.
• Ensure strong integration between software, controls engineering, electrical systems, instrumentation, and digital platforms.
• Protect and develop Nord Gas Solutions’ intellectual property and technology portfolio.
• Collaborate closely with customers, sales, and business stakeholders to identify market opportunities and future needs.

Delivery, Services & Operational Excellence

• Hold overall responsibility for successful delivery of automation and control systems across projects, products, and services.
• Ensure performance targets related to quality, schedule, cost, functionality, and customer satisfaction are achieved.
• Drive continuous improvement of engineering processes, ways of working, commissioning activities, and project execution
• Utilize feedback from commissioning, warranty, service, and operational data to improve products and customer experience.
• Partner with sourcing and supply chain teams to drive standardization, reliability, and cost optimization.

People Leadership

• Build a high-performance culture focused on accountability, collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning.

Qualifications & Experience

• MSc or BSc in Automation Engineering, Control Systems, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field.
• Minimum 10 years of relevant experience within automation, embedded systems, industrial controls, marine, energy, or process industries.
• Minimum 5 years of leadership experience managing engineering, technology, product, or operational organizations.
• Strong understanding of automation systems, embedded software, control architectures, digital solutions, and product lifecycle management.
• Experience with data-driven solutions, diagnostics, cybersecurity, AI applications, and lifecycle services is an advantage.
• Proven commercial understanding including budgeting, profitability, business planning, and financial management.
• Experience leading international and cross-functional teams in a matrix organization.
• Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and influencing skills.
• Fluent written and spoken English.
