Manager - Cost Control
NewThe Cost Controller will support the Integrated Project Controls function in monthly cost reporting, CTC/FAC working, commitment tracking, SAP WBS-CBS validation, PR/PO exception monitoring, cost variance analysis, and project cost dashboard preparation.
This role combines cost reporting support and commitment-control responsibilities. The position will work with Finance, SCM, Planning, Stores, PMs and site teams to ensure reliable monthly cost visibility and early identification of cost leakage.
Key Responsibilities
1. Monthly Cost Report Preparation
-
Prepare and support project-wise monthly cost reports.

Collect and validate approved budget, actual cost, commitments, accruals, CTC, FAC / EAC, cost variance, billing / UBR inputs and inventory inputs.

Maintain monthly cost reporting tracker.
-
Ensure reports are prepared as per agreed monthly cadence and timelines.
-
Highlight data gaps, missing inputs, and abnormal variances.
2. CTC / FAC Support
-
Support preparation of CTC and FAC workings.
-
Compare CTC with balance scope, physical progress, open commitments, procurement status, productivity trends and delay / risk inputs.

Track FAC movement month-on-month.

Identify margin erosion and potential savings opportunities.
-
Support preparation of FAC vs budget tracker.
3. Cost Variance Analysis
-
Analyze project cost variances by quantity, rate, productivity, delay, scope change, wrong booking, budget mismatch and commitment overrun.

Prepare variance explanation and root-cause analysis.
-
Support RAG classification of cost risks.
-
Maintain cost action tracker with owner and target date.
4. SAP WBS-CBS Validation
-
Review WBS-CBS mapping in PRs, POs, actual cost bookings and cost reports.

Identify incorrect WBS / cost head usage.
-
Support correction of wrong cost bookings in coordination with Finance and project teams.

Maintain WBS-CBS mapping tracker.
-
Support standardization of cost heads across projects.
5. Commitment and Open PO Tracking
-
Track open PRs, open POs, and commitments project-wise.
-
Monitor actual cost + commitment vs approved budget.
-
Identify over-commitment, budget breach, duplicate PR/PO, old open POs, unconsumed commitments and commitments not linked to project schedule.

Maintain open PO / commitment tracker.
-
Support closure or reduction of old or unutilized commitments.
6. PR/PO Leakage Prevention Support

Support review of high-value / risk-based PRs and POs.

Validate PR/POs against schedule requirement, WBS-CBS mapping, budget availability, balance scope, existing inventory, open PO / duplicate commitment and potential FAC impact.

Maintain PR/PO exception register.

Prepare periodic PR/PO exception report for monthly cost review.
7. Inventory / UBR Linkage Support

Coordinate with Stores / SCM for inventory, surplus, slow-moving material and scrap data.

Support linkage of inventory exposure with monthly cost report.

Coordinate with Finance / Billing teams for UBR aging inputs where required.

Support project dashboard inputs on commitment and working capital exposure.
8. Coordination with Cross-Functional Teams

Coordinate with Finance for actual cost, accruals and cost booking reports.

Coordinate with SCM for PR/PO status and commitment data.

Coordinate with Planning for progress and balance scope.

Coordinate with Stores for inventory data.
-
Coordinate with PMs / site teams for cost variance explanations and action closure.

Support monthly integrated project review packs.
