Position
Magna Legal Services is seeking a Manager to lead the daily performance, support, and development of an assigned team of court reporters. This manager ensures reporters are prepared for each proceeding, follow Maggie's required workflows, deliver complete and accurate post-deposition files, and receive timely operational and technical support. The role combines hands-on people leadership with close coordination across Scheduling, Operations, Production, and Talent Acquisition to maintain reliable client service as the reporter team grows.
This is a remote, full-time position with benefits, paid time off, and paid holidays. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced court reporting professional to step into a hands-on people leadership role, providing day-to-day coaching, support, and guidance to a growing team of court reporters.
Primary Responsibilities
- Lead the day-to-day performance of an assigned team of court reporters, including availability, assignments, workloads, attendance, punctuality, and transcript deadlines.
- Monitor scheduling and deposition support channels, confirm coverage, and respond quickly to reporter questions, technology issues, and changes that could affect a proceeding.
- Ensure reporters consistently complete required pre-deposition and post-deposition procedures, including timely submission of files, exhibits, notes, and other required case materials.
- Provide regular coaching and clear feedback on deposition procedures, client service, professionalism, court reporting practices, and high-quality transcript production.
- Partner with Talent Acquisition and Operations to interview and select court reporters, calibrate the target profile, and support hiring goals.
- Provide early performance support for new reporters so they are prepared to manage assignments independently.
- Review team performance and quality indicators, document coaching, recognize strong performance, and address attendance, workflow, service, or quality concerns promptly.
- Serve as an escalation point for reporter and proceeding-related issues, partnering with the appropriate teams to resolve concerns and communicate follow-up.
- Identify recurring gaps in workflows, training, or tools and recommend practical improvements that strengthen reporter readiness, consistency, and retention.
Desired Background
- Three to four years of experience in court reporting, legal transcription, deposition services, or a related operational environment.
- Previous supervisory or team-lead experience, including responsibility for coaching and performance management.
- Strong knowledge of deposition procedures, court reporting practices, and transcript-production workflows.
- Strong people leadership, organization, communication, problem-solving, and time-management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities in a high-volume environment.
- Comfort using court reporting technology, remote deposition platforms, and operational systems, with the judgment to troubleshoot issues and escalate when needed.
- Experience working in a remote, distributed environment and supporting employees across multiple locations and time zones preferred.
