Reporting to the Director, Digital Protection, the Manager for Digital Protection EMEA plays a key role in managing security operations focused on the digital threat for executives, newsroom staff, talent, events and select “At Risk” individuals within the EMEA region. This role is responsible for delivering the strategy and operational capabilities set out by the Director of Digital Protection which covers:

● Executive digital security, ensuring our executives have a secure digital environment at work, at home and when travelling

● Editorial and journalist digital safety, ensuring our news teams have appropriate digital security when travelling and news gathering in hostile environments.

● Event Security, ensuing staff have sufficient digital protections at public or high risk events

● News gathering support efforts, advising newsrooms with specialist cyber advice when content may introduce additional cyber risk

● Advising on secure methods of data transfer and communications and

● Providing training and awareness programs to train individuals on cyber and digital safety when potentially at risk.


The role covers News Corp and all of its affiliates and supports all business functions in terms of their digital security.


Responsibilities

Delivering the overarching strategy for the High Risk Digital Operations function within EMEA. This is to include the services and capabilities associated with Travel Support, News Gathering Support, High Risk Events and Specialised Device Management.


Build the relationships within security and the newsrooms to conduct news gathering support functions which is including but not limited to the following scope:

- Proactive preparation of the digital footprint and enterprise detections when alerted to sensitive, controversial and high risk publications.

- Safe and secure source communication methods. - Digital footprint reduction and digital signature reduction training.

- Safe offline device management for opening files and data.

- Operational Security consultation

- Create and deliver the cyber security content for annual Hostile Environment and First Aid - Training. Create and deliver digital risk basics and advanced digital risk skills training for newsrooms globally.

- Act as the lead for the continued partnership of Business Unit security functions and the Global Security Operations Center. Including all duties associated with projects, integration, staffing and process control.

- Report on digital threats for executives and key personnel to the Health, Safety and Security teams.

- Report on threat landscape, geopolitical risk changes and actionable intelligence against personnel and offices in those regions to the Business Information Security Officers.

- Provide executive security support with regards to digital operational security and travel.

- Provide feedback to the cyber pillars to enhance their reporting and capabilities to monitor and respond to events on executive, VIP and at risk individuals devices, accounts and networks (where applicable).

- Maintain the approved device deployment standards for sanctioned and high risk regions.

- Maintain the standard operating procedures for temporary networks and event networks as well as provide operational support for high risk events such as activations at the World Economic Forum.


Qualifications & Skills

3 - 5 years experience in either cyber security, digital security, threat intelligence or security type roles (with exposure to cyber/digital investigations or response)

Capability to perform on site digital risk assessments at high risk events comprising both physical and digital penetration threat vectors.

Experience with configuring devices and utilising a variety of mobile device solutions for security in high risk countries.

Experience with digital monitoring platforms and the ability to coordinate and lead response procedures alongside physical security and law enforcement where required.

An avid understanding of the current geopolitical climate and its effects on digital devices and behaviours where it applies to journalists operating in and residing in those regions.

Experience with executive reporting standards and the ability to communicate digital risks and mitigations in an effective manner fit for executive leadership.
