Job Description

We are seeking a results-driven Engineering Manager to lead our Replenishment and Supplier Management engineering team at Albertsons. This is a first-line people manager role with primary accountability for delivery execution, team effectiveness, engineering quality, and production reliability. The ideal candidate combines a strong software engineering foundation with practical people leadership and the ability to deliver scalable, reliable, and secure solutions aligned with enterprise business objectives.

Position Title:Manager Engineering

Roles & responsibilities:

  • Own execution and delivery of engineering commitments, ensuring predictable outcomes, high quality, and alignment with product priorities.
  • Lead and grow a high-performing team of engineers through regular one-on-ones, feedback, career development, and clear performance expectations.
  • Recruit, onboard, and retain engineering talent while fostering accountability, inclusion, ownership, and continuous learning.
  • Partner with Product, Architecture, Data Science, UX, and Business teams to translate priorities into executable plans for warehouse replenishment and supplier management capabilities.
  • Track milestones, dependencies, risks, capacity, and delivery metrics, and drive timely resolution of issues that affect execution.
  • Provide technical guidance through design reviews, architecture discussions, and engineering standards without acting as the sole solution architect.
  • Champion engineering excellence, agile delivery, automated testing, code review, continuous integration and delivery, observability, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure application availability, performance, resiliency, security, and modularity across the portfolio.
  • Drive responsible adoption of AI-assisted engineering tools, including GitHub Copilot or similar capabilities, to improve developer productivity, code quality, test automation, documentation, and delivery velocity.
  • Communicate delivery status, trade-offs, risks, and outcomes clearly to engineering leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.

Required Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 9-12 years of relevant technology experience, including 7+ years in software, platform, or integration engineering and 3+ years leading technical teams.
  • Proven experience delivering enterprise-scale applications, APIs, integrations, and distributed systems.
  • Strong hands-on engineering background in Java, Spring Boot, microservices, and event-driven architecture.
  • Experience with at least one enterprise messaging or event-streaming technology such as Kafka, Databrick, or a comparable platform.
  • Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases, including technologies such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB
  • Working knowledge of AWS or Azure or GCP and modern cloud-native engineering practices.
  • Experience leading Agile teams and managing scope, capacity, dependencies, risks, and release commitments.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, stakeholder management, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience with distributed data processing platforms such as Spark or Databricks.
  • Knowledge of web user-interface technologies such as React, Angular, and single-page applications.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, Kubernetes or container platforms, automated testing, and observability.
  • Familiarity with GitHub Copilot or similar AI-assisted developer productivity tools and responsible-use practices.
  • Experience in supply chain, inventory management, replenishment, supplier collaboration, warehouse operations, forecasting, or order management.
  • Experience working with distributed teams and partner or vendor resources.
