Manager - Engineering
Who You Are
In this role as our Manager – Engineering for Paint Process, you will be responsible for the planning and coordination of Paint Process Engineers for projects within the Paint Shop Division (PSH). You will develop strategies, manage manpower and organize engineer workload to guarantee successful project execution through innovative and cost effective application solutions. You will be expected to work closely with department members and collaborate through cross-functional teams to support the PSH division.
You should have proven experience effectively leading, developing, and motivating teams as well as partnering with customers to ensure the final product exceeds the customer’s expectations.
How It’s Done
- Work with the PSH Quoting and Sales groups to define process requirements for quotes, maintain process records, and keep track of quoted equipment and hours versus what was executed
- Assign Process Engineers to meet site/manpower recommendations
- Schedule and prioritize Process Engineer workload
- Support the PSH Project Management group with required project staffing
- Work with PSH Sales and schedule the lab engineering support to perform demos that meet the customers’ expectations
- Maintain and update the PSH Lab Master Schedule on a weekly basis
- Work with both the PSH segment and the R&D group to help define process requirements for new products
- Provide PaintPRO simulations and create process design specifications
- Provide resources to support the process testing of new products
- Coordinate process support when required for R&D group in development of products / software
- Identify and coordinate outside vendor training and coordinate internal training on products and systems for the process engineers
- Understand and correctly apply corporate policies to all Process Engineering Team members
- Effectively manage Process Engineering Team members time sheets and expense reports
- Travel as required, including occasional international travel
What You Need
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Management or related field, or equivalent relevant experience
- Minimum eight years of experience with paint application equipment, pumping, and fluid delivery/control equipment
- Experience with path programming industrial robots, in paint application in the automotive paint shop environment
- Ability to organize and present data to customers to promote FANUC’s process expertise
- Must have or be able to obtain a passport
- Must have or be able to obtain a valid driver’s license
What Would Be Even Better
- Master’s Degree in related field
- Minimum 4 years of experience in a management or supervisory role, or project management function with project-related responsibilities
