Manager Engineering Nonlinear Productivity Friction Elimination and Solutions

You will identify structural friction in software development and code-generation workflows, assess technical solutions, and test prototypes against target metrics. You will lead or work hands-on with a small team, drive validated fixes into internal adoption, document reusable learnings, and develop cases for productizing successful tools.

Responsibilities

  • Survey software development lifecycle and code-generation workflows to identify structural friction
  • Build a data-backed view of high-leverage technical interventions
  • Evaluate build, buy, and adapt options, including agentic and AI tooling
  • Develop prototypes and review architecture to validate durable solutions
  • Hire and manage a small team or operate as a hands-on working manager
  • Drive validated fixes from prototype to internal adoption
  • Build technical and business cases for productizing durable internal fixes
  • Document reusable learnings from successful fixes
  • Report impact through key metrics and productization progress

Requirements

  • Ability to use GitLab
  • Track record of identifying and shipping technical fixes for developer productivity, continuous integration and continuous delivery, or platform friction
  • Ability to operate with ambiguity and build a roadmap without an existing backlog
  • People management experience
  • Technical depth to evaluate and prototype solutions directly
  • Product judgment to assess internal tools for paying customers
  • Familiarity with agentic or AI-assisted development tooling
