Manager for software QA department, Defence
Are you ready to ensure the highest standards of quality in defence software? Become part of Defence QA Management and drive our QA strategy forward while ensuring excellence across our products. Lead and motivate a committed team, delivering tangible outcomes and measurable progress through your expertise in software QA, project management and people leadership.
The job: drive test strategy, quality improvements and product programme progress
As Manager for QA in one of our five product programmes, you will hold the overall QA responsibility for the product programme and lead the QA team within it. Your focus will be to ensure high-quality products by defining, coordinating and supporting test activities across project teams, while working closely with the programme’s other Managers, who lead the Developers. You will lead QA planning, reporting and improvements - creating progress, structure and transparency within the programme. At the same time, you will drive QA initiatives and implement improvements, shaping the direction for quality assurance. As a people manager, you will lead a team of QA Engineers - developing their skills, ensuring the right competencies and fostering a motivated, high-performing team.
In addition, you will be part of the QA Programme’s management team, contributing to strategic decisions and helping to guide the programme toward success.
In short, you can look forward to:
driving and developing the test framework and QA strategies to ensure product quality and scalability
overseeing the planning and execution of system tests to validate end-to-end functionality
creating a clear roadmap for continuous test improvements in close collaboration with our QA Programme team
working closely with key stakeholders including the Directors, Managers and Architects to ensure alignment and quality throughout the development and delivery process
leading and growing a dedicated testing team - fostering motivation, building capabilities and supporting professional development
You should expect up to 5-10 travel days a year visiting colleagues at our office in Bucharest.
The team: join an international team united by a strong QA mindset
You will report directly to the Senior Manager for Defence QA Management and become part of a product programme with development teams across Aarhus, Copenhagen and Bucharest, working together to bring direction and structure to QA activities. You will play a key part in ensuring high-quality outcomes through strong collaboration.
By joining Defence QA Management, you will also enter a unique community of more than 40 QA Engineers and Test Managers - a strong network where you can share knowledge, learn from experienced colleagues and grow your expertise.
You bring: strong software QA expertise with experience at leading projects and people
To succeed in this role, you bring 3+ years of experience within software quality assurance or test management, giving you a strong foundation in structured testing and quality delivery. In addition, you bring experience in project management and people leadership, where you have successfully motivated teams, ensured progress and delivered results through clear direction and collaboration.
We are also looking for:
as a minimum a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or another technical or scientific degree
proven experience at managing teams and delivering successful software projects
a strong track record of building quality into software products from concept to release
a solid understanding of software development, testing and release processes
fluent English skills, both written and spoken
About you
You are a goal-oriented and collaborative leader with a structured mindset, strong drive and a proactive approach. You combine business understanding with technical insight to make smart, day-to-day decisions and ensure quality in everything you do.
With your QA mindset and passion for improvement, you inspire and motivate others, thrive on collaboration across many stakeholders and always focus on finding solutions. In short, you are a decisive leader who sets the direction and gets the team moving together.
Please note that you must be able to present a clean criminal record and have lived in a NATO and/or an EU country for the past seven years as we work with security-classified projects. Read more here.
