Job Description

The Role

The Manager, Independent Aftermarket (IAM) Channel Operations leads the operating performance, strategy, and execution of GM’s IAM Powertrain and Fleet channels. This role translates channel strategy into coordinated commercial programs, operating plans, forecasts, field enablement, and measurable revenue and customer outcomes. You will lead a multidisciplinary team spanning Powertrain Programs, Fleet Programs, Fleet and Indirect Sales, Wholesale Dealer Programs, OEC support, and Electronic Data Interchange (EDI). You will integrate partners across Field Sales, National Accounts, Product, Marketing, Finance, Supply Chain, Technology, Customer Care, Legal, Procurement, and external dealers, distributors, fleets, government customers, and technology partners.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop annual and multiyear channel strategies, operating plans, resource plans, roadmaps, and decision forums that translate enterprise priorities into execution.
  • Recommend investment and resource-allocation priorities, identify growth opportunities, and balance revenue, share, customer value, dealer economics, profitability, inventory health, and execution simplicity.
  • Own Powertrain operating plans, forecasts, programs, incentives, promotions, field alignment, and performance insights while resolving availability, competitiveness, profitability, and execution barriers.
  • Lead Fleet and Indirect Sales operations across fleet, government, indirect, dealer, distributor, and related channels, including account support, reporting, issue resolution, and partner requirements.
  • Build a high-performing multidisciplinary team by establishing accountabilities, decision rights, service expectations, operating cadences, and resource priorities while coaching and developing talent.
  • Translate initiatives into field playbooks, communications, training, tools, and performance expectations; influence aligned decisions and resolve customer, dealer, distributor, fleet, revenue, and profitability issues.
  • Own the channel scorecard and operating-review process, including planning, forecasting, monthly business reviews, corrective actions, common definitions, and a reliable source of truth.
  • Manage program economics, accruals, credits, returns, controls, audit readiness, and operational, workforce, budget, incentive, and resource-allocation decisions.
  • Partner with Information Technology and Data Analytics to improve data, dashboards, automation, and channel systems.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 8+ years' experience in automotive aftermarket, wholesale, fleet, channel operations, sales operations, National Accounts, dealer or distributor programs, or a related commercial function.
  • Demonstrated success leading cross-functional operations across multiple workstreams and delivering measurable commercial results.
  • Experience making operational or financial decisions and managing or developing talent across multiple workstreams.
  • Demonstrated financial, analytical, forecasting, business-planning, communication, and executive-presentation skills.

What Can Give You a Competitive Advantage (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Proven success leading, developing, and motivating a team of direct reports.
  • Experience with aftermarket parts & service, powertrain, fleet, wholesale parts, national accounts, or dealer and distributor channels.
  • Experience with program economics, incentives, pricing, contracts, returns, credits, or accruals.
  • Experience with Electronic Data Interchange, customer relationship management systems, business intelligence, data visualization, automation, or operating-model transformation.
  • Ability to turn complex data and operational issues into clear decisions and actions, influence senior leaders without direct authority, and manage ambiguity, competing priorities, and time-sensitive issues.
  • Strategic and systems thinking, customer and partner orientation, commercial and financial acumen, data-driven judgment, problem solving, executive presence, cross-functional influence, change leadership, talent development, inclusive leadership, planning, prioritization, innovation, and operational discipline.
