About Tazapay
Tazapay is a Series B fintech startup building global payments and compliance infrastructure for cross-border businesses. We help companies move money across borders securely, compliantly, and efficiently, operating across multiple geographies, currencies, and regulatory regimes. Backed by strong global investors, Tazapay sits at the intersection of payments, risk, compliance, and AI, enabling businesses to scale internationally without worrying about regulatory complexity. As we expand globally, risk and compliance are not just support functions for us — they are core product capabilities. At Tazapay, we are building world-class AI-first products that power decisioning, automation, and intelligence across financial workflows.
Role Overview
This is a high-visibility, high-impact role in the COO’s office at Tazapay. As Manager - Licensing & International Expansion, you will drive expansion of Tazapay’s products internationally, formulate Tazapay’s licensing strategy across multiple markets and own operationalisation of licenses to build truly global payments infrastructure. We are looking for a sharp operator who has worked / interested to work at the intersection of growth, licensing and execution.
You will work closely with COO, regulators, legal, compliance, finance, product, and operations to translate requirements into an operational plan - from licensing application to launching the product in a new market.
Key Responsibilities
1. International Expansion and Licensing:
• Own end-to-end planning and execution for licensing and expansion workstreams in one or more countries
• Decompose licensing and expansion requirements into actionable functional, technical, and operational requirements.
• Conduct gap analyses by back-testing licence and expansion conditions against current policies, processes, and systems.
• Track and manage licence-related workstreams, ensuring cross-functional milestones are met ahead of entity go-live.
• Coordinate operational readiness across areas including: onboarding, terms & conditions, outsourcing registers, regulatory reporting, safeguarding, payroll, taxes, and secretarial coverage.
• Act as the connective tissue between the licensing team, country leads, compliance, and functional owners - synthesising inputs and escalating blockers early.
2. Program and Stakeholder Management
• Prepare high-quality status reports, steering committee materials, and executive updates with clarity and precision.
• Build trusted relationships with internal stakeholders including Finance, Legal, Compliance, Product, Engineering, and Operations.
• Manage external partners including regulatory consultants, local counsel, corporate secretaries, and system vendors.
• Communicate complex regulatory or operational requirements in clear, accessible language to non-specialist audiences.
Key Interfaces
• Product, Engineering and Operations Leads
• Partnership Team
• Finance, Accounting and Safeguarding
• Legal, Risk & Compliance teams
• Local Country Team (MLRO, Compliance Manager, Risk Managers)
• External: regulators, financial institutions, legal counsel, corporate service providers, system vendors
What We are looking for Must Have:
• 4-7 years of experience working in a regulated environment - payments, banking, e-money, fintech, or financial services - with exposure to regulators, compliance frameworks, or licensing processes across Banks or Fintech
• Demonstrated programme or project management capability: managing workstreams, cross-functional coordination, and delivery against milestones.
• Strong problem-solving skills: ability to break down complex regulatory or operational problems into structured, executable plans.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to distill complexity into crisp narratives for senior audiences.
• High stakeholder management aptitude - credible with senior internal and external counterparties
Preferred:
• Familiarity and exposure to Regulatory and Compliance frameworks.
• Engineering and/or management background from a reputed institute preferred.
