MANAGER MAINTENANCE (5626)
POSITION SUMMARY: Manage the overall operations of the Maintenance Department, facilities and utilities. Manage and develop personnel. Diagnose equipment needs, machine malfunctions, operating difficulties or issues, and make recommendations to senior management for improvement. Control parts inventory. Oversee the selection, layout, and installation of new equipment. Monitor and control departmental budget. Adhere to preventative maintenance plan. Train maintenance team members with goal of continuous improvement throughout the operation. Schedules repair maintenance and installation of machines, tools, and equipment to ensure continuous production.
Essential Functions
- Actively communicate with other departments to ensure efficient plant operations and customer satisfaction.
- Analyze maintenance activities, and work with other departments to provide safe and efficient packaging equipment.
- Diagnose and determine when outside resources are necessary to perform special project tasks
- Diagnose machine breakdowns, identify problems, and give instructions for repairs; make recommendations to senior management for improved machine operations/efficiency
- Ensure all preventative maintenance activities are completed on time and accurately.
- Interview, hire, and train new department personnel; provide coaching, leadership, mentoring, and corrective action as appropriate
- Modify preventative maintenance program as needed
- Oversee parts inventory; track replacement parts in maintenance crib and reorder parts
- Oversee the overall operations of the Maintenance Dept. including machine maintenance and facility maintenance
- Oversee the processing and storage of hazardous, flammable material in accordance with local, state and federal guidelines. Ensure maintenance personnel accurately follow all guidelines
- Oversee the selection, layout, and installation of new mechanical and production equipment

Physical Demands: A variety of lifting and moving of equipment for installation and maintenance.
Visual Acuity: Concentrated mental and visual attention; coordinating manual dexterity for sustained periods. Clarity of vision at 20 inches or less, ability to adjust eye to bring objects into sharp focus.
POSITION QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Experience: Minimum ten years in packaging machine maintenance with minimum five years in a supervisory / managerial position required.
Requires the knowledge of machining practices and techniques, mathematics, mechanical principles, setups, tooling applications, print reading, and measuring procedures. Knowledge of processing pumps, conveyors, liquid fill equipment, plumbing, boiler, various automation equipment and HVAC. Minimum college bachelor degree with advanced training/education in a variety of mechanical repairs. Advanced education desired.
Machines, Tools, Equipment and Work Aids: Filler, capper, labeler, bander, tape machine, unscrambler, induction sealer, jet coder, print & apply machine, case erector, case packer, palletizer, drill, grinder, drill press, lathe, saws, roto-hammer, pipe threader, grinder, forklift, hand truck, and a variety of hand tools, air compressor, and boiler.
