About This Role:

Crusoe is looking for a Mechanical Engineering Manager to own the day-to-day technical execution of our mechanical engineering team. Reporting to the Sr. Engineering Manager, you will bridge the gap between strategic design direction and efficient project delivery, transforming complex customer requirements into production-ready 3D models and detailed drawings for modular buildings and power distribution equipment.

While primarily an execution and people leadership role focused on managing the engineering queue and reviewing mechanical deliverables, you must also be a capable and willing expert technical individual contributor. The ideal candidate is a highly analytical, seasoned engineer who leads from the front, eagerly tackles advanced IC work when needed, removes team blockers, and takes ownership of quality from the first schematic to production release.

What You’ll Be Working On:

  • Team Leadership & People Management: Directly manage a team of mechanical design engineers. Conduct regular 1-on-1s, performance reviews, and growth conversations while providing expert technical guidance, mentorship, and professional development.

  • Engineering Queue & Resource Execution: Own the mechanical engineering workqueue, assigning engineers to projects based on expertise, availability, and production schedule priorities while pro-actively surfacing schedule risks.

  • Technical Design Leadership & Execution: Step in to execute individual contributor work at an advanced level, utilizing expert 3D modeling skills to tackle complex design challenges when the team requires additional bandwidth.

  • Deliverable & Model Review: Serve as a technical reviewer for mechanical deliverables, including specification sheets, bills of materials (BOMs), structural/thermal analysis, and detailed assembly instructions.

  • Lifecycle & Change Management: Independently lead and manage Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) as a key part of product release and ongoing lifecycle management.

  • Compliance & Standards Execution: Champion and ensure strict compliance of all product designs with regulatory requirements, commercial codes, and engineering standards (e.g., UL, IEC, IBC, ISO), while maintaining PDM/PLM/ERP data integrity.

  • Design-to-Manufacturing Handoff: Partner closely with Manufacturing Engineering and the shop floor to resolve design questions, leading Design for Manufacturability and Assembly (DFMA/DFx) reviews and driving cost-reduction strategies.

What You’ll Bring to the Team:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.

  • Professional Experience: 7+ years of hands-on experience in mechanical design.

  • Leadership Track Record: Proven success in a supervisory or management role for at least 1-2 years leading engineering teams.

  • Technical Depth: Expert proficiency with 3D modeling software, specifically SolidWorks and SolidWorks PDM, with deep knowledge of metals, fabrication materials, and manufacturing methods.

  • First-Principles Problem Solving: Proven track record of solving complex engineering problems utilizing a first-principles approach to design and analysis.

  • Regulatory & Code Knowledge: Proficient knowledge of a wide range of building codes, energy codes, and UL listings applicable to engineered infrastructure.

  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts across cross-functional teams.

  • Safety & Physical Capabilities: Ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs and meet physical operational demands on site. This position is designated safety-sensitive and located in a safety-sensitive facility; drug and alcohol program participation is required.

Bonus Points:

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.

  • Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related post-graduate discipline.

  • Experience serving as a SolidWorks PDM Vault Administrator.

  • Experience with advanced simulation and analysis software (e.g., FEA/FDM).

  • Lean or continuous improvement experience applied to an engineering design workflow.

Benefits:

  • Competitive compensation and equity packages

  • Restricted Stock Units

  • Paid time off, paid holidays & leave of absence programs

  • Comprehensive health, dental & vision insurance

  • Employer contributions to HSA account

  • Paid parental leave

  • Paid life insurance, short-term and long-term disability

  • Professional development & tuition reimbursement

  • Mental health & wellness support

  • Commuter benefits (parking & transit)

  • Cell phone stipend

  • 401(k) Retirement plan with company match up to 4% of salary

  • Volunteer time off

  • Global travel insurance & emergency assistance

  • Daily meals allowance

  • Additional perks & programs specific to location

Compensation:

Compensation will be paid in the range of $160,000 - $180,000 + Bonus. Restricted Stock Units are included in all offers. Compensation to be determined by the applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
