Manager Mine Technical Services
The Manager – Mine Technical Services is responsible for coordinating and optimizing processes across the technical services departments, including Mine Engineering, Geology, and Mine Exploration. This role ensures that both short- and long-term planning activities, geological resource modeling, and operational programs align with corporate strategic objectives. The Manager also ensures that hydrology and geotechnical standards meet policy criteria and operational needs, maximizing production and resource efficiency.
Technical & Operational Management
Oversee and implement technical and operational programs to optimize production and resource efficiency.
Develop, implement, and monitor mine planning systems and procedures.
Prepare reserve statements and life-of-mine (LOM) plans.
Develop, implement, and monitor geotechnical programs to optimize slope angles and ensure stability.
Ensure training, localization, and skill development targets are met.
Evaluate and implement technical advancements in mining technology.
Provide technical support to project developments.
Ensure tailings ponds and related structures are constructed according to design criteria.
Monitor departmental operating costs to ensure adherence to budgets.
Strategic Planning & Leadership
Lead long-, medium-, and short-term mine planning, mine design, and LOM planning.
Supervise the Geology, Engineering, and Mine Exploration teams.
Coach, mentor, and guide team members to achieve departmental and corporate objectives.
Set clear work objectives, performance expectations, and ensure KPIs of the strategic plan are met.
Maintain and promote a high-performance culture throughout the operation.
Encourage structured development programs incorporating training, coaching, mentoring, counseling, and discipline.
Administration & Compliance
Ensure accurate and timely processing of accounts payable transactions (if applicable).
Enter invoices and expense reports correctly and on time.
Ensure compliance with corporate policies and report non-conformities.
Maintain accurate supplier files and communicate company policies effectively to employees and suppliers.
The ideal candidate will have:
University degree in Mining Engineering, Geology, Geotechnical Engineering, or related field.
Postgraduate degree or MBA is a plus.
Professional licenses or certifications in mining engineering, geology, or geotechnics are preferred
Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in mine engineering, geology, or geotechnical roles, with significant exposure to managerial responsibilities.
Extensive experience in mine planning, technical services management, and geotechnical programs.
Strong leadership, coaching, and mentoring skills.
Excellent strategic thinking, project management, and problem-solving capabilities.
Proven ability to optimize operational performance, manage budgets, and implement innovative mining technologies.
Strong communication, collaboration, and stakeholder engagement skills.
Demonstrated experience leading technical services teams in a mining environment.
Experience with long-, medium-, and short-term mine planning, reserve reporting, and life-of-mine planning.
Willingness to work in Brokopondo and Paramaribo on a rotational schedule of 14 days of work followed by 7 days break
A copy ID & a valid proof of good conduct “Bewijs goedgedrag”.
Good communication and interpersonal skills in English.
