Position Title: Manager of AI Solutions

Position Status: Exempt

Work Hours: Mon–Fri. Ability to work some evenings and Saturdays; Secondary holidays may be a scheduled work day.

Location: Buffalo, New York Area

Job Summary:

Bryant & Stratton College seeks a System Manager of AI Solutions to serve as the institution's AI program manager, leading the planning, implementation, and governance of artificial intelligence initiatives system-wide. Reporting to the Head of Planning, Research, & Analytics, this role manages the institution's portfolio of AI-enabled vendor solutions, leads pilots and experimentation with emerging AI capabilities including agentic workflows, and operationalizes AI governance practices that support responsible adoption. The System Manager of AI Solutions serves as a visible champion for AI literacy and adoption, partnering with academic and administrative departments to identify high-value use cases and support institutional change.

Essential Responsibilities

AI Vendor and Product Management

  • Evaluate AI-enabled vendor solutions against institutional requirements, including structured pilots with defined success criteria
  • Monitor vendor performance against contractual commitments; document gaps and lead remediation discussions in partnership with procurement and institutional stakeholders
  • Maintain a portfolio view of AI-enabled tools in use across the institution, including cost, performance, and risk profile

AI Experimentation and Implementation

  • Design, build, and evaluate pilots of emerging AI capabilities, including large language model applications and agentic workflows, within institutional processes such as enrollment, advising, student communications, and reporting
  • Establish criteria for advancing successful pilots to production and retiring unsuccessful ones
  • Partner with IT and functional owners to ensure implementations meet security, privacy, and integration requirements

AI Governance

  • Maintain the institutional AI use inventory and administer the intake and risk review process for proposed AI use cases
  • Develop and maintain AI policies, standards, and guidelines aligned with recognized frameworks such as the NIST AI Risk Management Framework
  • Ensure AI initiatives comply with applicable regulations and institutional obligations, including FERPA and accreditation standards
  • Support the institutional AI Steering Team, including agenda development, documentation, and follow-through on decisions

Adoption, Training, and Collaboration

  • Develop and deliver AI training and enablement programs for faculty and staff at varying levels of technical proficiency
  • Serve as an accessible institutional resource for AI-related questions and guidance
  • Build collaborative relationships across academic affairs, IT, finance, admissions, marketing, and student services
  • Communicate program status, risks, and outcomes to executive leadership through briefings and written reports

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Three or more years of experience managing technology programs, implementations, or vendor relationships, including recent direct experience with AI or machine learning initiatives
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience with current AI tools, including large language model applications; candidates should be prepared to discuss specific projects during the interview process
  • Experience managing vendor relationships, including performance monitoring and issue resolution
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor content for executive, technical, and general audiences

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in higher education or another regulated environment such as healthcare, government, or financial services
  • Familiarity with FERPA and data privacy considerations in an educational setting
  • Experience establishing a new program, governance function, or center of excellence
  • Experience with agentic AI frameworks, workflow automation, or AI application development
  • Change management or instructional design experience, with demonstrated results in driving adoption of new tools or processes

        Physical Demands and Work Environment:

        Position requires standing or sitting in a stationary position as well as the occasional need to lift, carry, push, and/or move objects up to 10 pounds.

        Position also requires the use of computer technology/equipment.

        Position requires the ability to receive information in person and over the telephone.

        Position requires the ability to convey detailed and important instructions or ideas accurately.

        Background Check or Licensing Requirements:

        This position requires a background check.

        Starting Salary Range: $90,000 - 110,000 per year

The selected candidate’s actual base pay for this role will take into account a wide range of non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate may not have been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Bryant & Stratton College, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. Information about the total compensation package for this position will be provided during the interview process.
