Catholic Charities of Baltimore is seeking for a Manager Dining Operations to be responsible for the overall management and daily operations of dining services, including meal preparation, kitchen and dining room operations, and coordination of food service across all programs. This role ensures high-quality, compliant, and efficient food service delivery while supervising staff, coordinating volunteers, and supporting program goals. The work schedule is Monday-Friday 7 AM - 3 PM.

Open since 1982, My Sister’s Place Women’s Center is Baltimore City’s longest-serving women’s day shelter and resource center for women and children experiencing homelessness and poverty. We empower those we serve to overcome their situations through our services, which include extensive workshops centered on the 8 realms of wellness: emotional, spiritual, intellectual, physical, environmental, financial, occupational, and social wellness.

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversees daily kitchen and dining operations to ensure meals are prepared and delivered on time for the facility.
  • Maintains compliance with health, safety, and food handling requirements while supporting a clean, safe, and efficient work environment.
  • Supervises dining operations staff, including hiring, onboarding, training, scheduling, coaching, performance management, and corrective action in accordance with organizational policies.
  • Works with the Volunteer Manager to recruit, coordinate, and train volunteers who support dining operations.
  • Develops and manages monthly volunteer schedules to maintain appropriate coverage.
  • Coordinates in-kind donations to strengthen program resources and support service delivery.
  • Manages data collection, reporting, and program evaluation to support operational effectiveness and informed decision-making.
  • Prepares and submits required reports to the Program Director of Operations.
  • Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to provide coordinated, high-quality services.
  • Promotes a welcoming, respectful environment for clients, visitors, staff, and volunteers.
  • Maintains working knowledge of available services to effectively support clients and operations.
  • Participates in required meetings, training, and professional development, including health, mental health, and substance use topics.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to support program and organizational needs.

  • Plans menus, manages food orders, maintains inventory, and supports cost-effective operations.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Three (3) years of relevant experience in food service, dining operations, hospitality, program operations, or human services.
  • Two (2) years of supervisory, team lead, or shift lead experience, preferably in food service, hospitality, nonprofit, program, or human services operations.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience.

CERTIFICATION / LICENSURE

  • ServSafe® Food Handler Certification; candidates who do not hold the certification at hire must obtain it within three (3) months of hire and maintain it thereafter as a condition of continued employment.
  • Food Services Manager Certification; candidates who do not hold the certification at hire must obtain it within six (6) months of hire and maintain it thereafter as a condition of continued employment.

  • Requires proficiency in using computer systems and software to perform job function, including but not limited to, basic Windows PC, web browsing (i.e., Chrome, Internet Explorer, etc.), and Microsoft Outlook. Knowledge of other Microsoft Office applications, such as Word, Excel PowerPoint, Teams, and OneDrive is preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • No remote or hybrid work availability based on core and essential functions of the position.
  • Flexibility may be required to work beyond standard hours, including weekends and holidays, as needed.
  • Maintain reliable phone access to ensure effective communication during work hours and on-call periods, if applicable.
  • Ability to reliably commute to and from the worksite to meet scheduled shifts, including during inclement weather.
  • Remaining in a stationary position, which may involve standing or sitting for extended periods, as required to complete tasks or duties associated with the role.
  • Moving about to accomplish tasks or transitioning between different work sites, which may involve walking, standing, or traveling to various locations as required by the role.
  • Adjusting or moving objects up to forty (40) pounds in all directions, which may include lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, or repositioning items as necessary to perform job duties.
  • Repetitive motions involving the wrists, hands, and/or fingers, including tasks such as typing, data entry, stirring, or handling small objects. These repetitive activities may occur throughout the workday and require attention to ergonomics to ensure comfort and minimize strain.
  • May require working in confined or enclosed spaces, which could involve restricted movement, and potentially hazardous conditions. Employees must adhere to safety guidelines for confined spaces and be prepared to work in areas that may cause discomfort or require special training and equipment.
  • Operating machinery and/or power tools and appliances to complete tasks, ensuring proper handling, safety protocols, and maintenance procedures.
  • Hearing and vision abilities, with or without correction, sufficient to drive safely and effectively observe and communicate with others.
  • Driving (Agency and/or personal vehicle) is required for this position. Driver must be at least 21 years of age, with a minimum of 2 years of driving experience, and a valid driver’s license issued by the state of residence. There can be no state issued restrictions on the licenses that would impede drivers’ ability to operate the vehicle as required by the Agency, and there must not be more than three (3) points on their driving record.
