Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume)\:
Bachelor’s degree (foreign equivalent or higher). Three (3) years of full-time administrative experience (student experience may be considered). Experience with computer applications and/or using databases or spreadsheets to track information and/or develop reports.
Preferred Qualifications\:
Master’s degree (foreign equivalent or higher). Project management skills. Experience producing virtual meetings/events. Experience working with diverse populations. Experience working with interns in a leadership capacity, i.e. mentoring, supervising, coaching or training. Experience conducting presentations.
Brief Description of Duties\:
This role fosters the partnership between the Career Center and the College of Engineering & Applied Sciences to create and manage experiential programs as the Vertically Integrated Projects (VIP). Successful candidates will have a growth mindset, strong work ethic, creativity, resourcefulness, a methodical, organized approach to work, and outstanding communication skills.
The incumbent will be culturally competent, understanding the cultural and experiential differences that impact the student experience, and will be able to communicate effectively across cultures. Can thrive as part of a fast-paced, continuously moving team that strives for personal bests every day, with a high level of independence, the ability to prioritize assignments, and the capacity to meet deadlines. This position also requires strong oral communication skills.
Project & Program Management\:
- Manage operation of the VIP program, working with faculty and students to promote projects and recruit participants, liaising with Faculty Project Director regularly. Establish and service relationships between VIP teams and community/industry partners. Collaborate with faculty to expand VIP and experiential learning opportunities for CEAS and students from other majors, i.e. co-op, multidisciplinary and industry capstone projects. Organize programs to promote experiential learning programs and enhance the student experience.
Coaching\:
- Provide individual and group career coaching for undergraduate and graduate students participating in VIP and other experiential programs for a variety of career needs\: exploration, experience, networking, and job search strategy. Utilize multiple methods of service delivery, including F2F and virtual. Design and implement career readiness and preparation programs.
Outcomes Administration\:
- Gather and monitor data for experiences and post-graduate outcomes, as well as career readiness, skill acquisition, and other metrics as directed. Assist in the assessment of student learning outcomes. Develop reports as directed.
Professional Development and Committee Involvement\:
- Participate in opportunities that promote your learning, growth, and development (i.e. classes, training, committee, webinar, etc.). Contribute to the Division of Student Affairs and Stony Brook University by attending and/or supporting events, activities, and programs sponsored by areas outside of your individual unit/department (i.e. campus wide traditions, events, programs, etc.).
- Other duties or projects as assigned as appropriate to rank and departmental mission.
- Evening and weekend work may be required at times.
Special Notes\:
This is a full-time appointment. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption.
Salary\: $65,000 + $4,000 Location Pay = $69,000 Total Compensation
In addition to the employee's base salary, this position is eligible for $4,000 UUP annual location pay, paid biweekly.
Essential Position\: This has been designated as an essential position based on the duties of the job and the functions performed. Positions that are designated as such may be required to report to work/remain at work even if classes are canceled, and the campus is working on limited operations in an emergency.
