Description

The Manager of Public Engagement helps people connect to art and one another through the development, coordination, and delivery of public programming. Works cross-departmentally and with community partners to provide a variety of experiences with and for a diverse public, including live music, performances, talks, exhibition-related programs, and large, episodic events including M&T Bank First Fridays, the Art of Jazz series, and Art Alive.

This work contributes to the larger departmental mission of expanding our reach on and off campus to engage current and new audiences—building authentic partnerships, creating accessible pathways, and fostering a sense of belonging to encourage repeat visitation.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage and collaborate with staff and community partners on the development and execution of programs for the public, including exhibition programs, performances, talks, and lectures.

  • Develop large scale annual programs and series, including M&T Bank First Fridays, Art Alive, and Art of Jazz.

  • Coordinate additional out-of-series performance programs, such as music, dance, poetry, and cultural programs.

  • Write contracts, agreements, and develop and follow internal documentation procedures.

  • Represent the museum to the media for events within their purview.

  • Prepare ASCAP, BMI, and SESAC reports for all musical programming at the museum.

  • Prepare and oversee budgets for areas of responsibility.

  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Learning & Creativity.
