The Title IX Coordinator maintains appropriate independence and authority when performing compliance responsibilities and has direct access to senior leadership and legal counsel as needed.

  • Coordinate student organization funding and budget request processes in partnership with appropriate University offices.
  • Support student governance and create pathways that increase participation in co-curricular experiences.
  • Develop resources that strengthen student leader onboarding, organization sustainability, leadership transitions, and member engagement.

Orientation and Transition Programs

  • Lead the development, implementation, and assessment of comprehensive orientation programs for incoming on-ground and online student populations.
  • Coordinate transition initiatives from admission through enrollment in partnership with Admissions, Academic Affairs, Student Success, and other campus partners.
  • Design extended orientation and first-year transition experiences that connect students with people, resources, expectations, and opportunities for involvement.
  • Develop orientation resources and communication plans for students, families, and support networks.
  • Use participation, satisfaction, and student success data to strengthen orientation and transition programs.

Leadership Development and Community Engagement

  • Design leadership development opportunities that prepare students for professional, civic, and community leadership.
  • Create programs that build communication, collaboration, ethical decision-making, and team leadership skills.
  • Develop community service and volunteer opportunities aligned with the University’s mission and values.
  • Build relationships with alumni, community organizations, healthcare providers, nonprofit agencies, and other partners to expand mentorship, service, and experiential learning opportunities.

Online Student Engagement

  • Develop virtual involvement, peer connection, leadership, and community-building opportunities for online students.
  • Collaborate with Student Success staff to identify and address barriers to engagement for online learners.
  • Gather feedback and review engagement measures to improve the online student experience and strengthen belonging and persistence.

Assessment, Technology, and Administration

  • Use engagement, participation, feedback, and retention data to inform programming, resource allocation, and continuous improvement.
  • Use University-supported technology, automation, and artificial intelligence responsibly to improve communication, planning, assessment, event coordination, and operational efficiency.
  • Manage assigned budgets, records, reports, assessment data, and program documentation.
  • Supervise student employees, interns, graduate assistants, and volunteers as assigned.
  • Contribute to divisional planning, accreditation support, institutional committees, and initiatives related to student success and experience.

Title IX Coordination and Compliance (Approximately 30%)

  • Serve as the University’s designated Title IX Coordinator and coordinate institutional efforts to comply with Title IX and applicable University policies.
  • Receive and promptly assess reports of sex discrimination, sex-based harassment, sexual assault, dating violence, domestic violence, stalking, and retaliation that fall within applicable policy.
  • Provide or coordinate outreach, information, supportive measures, referrals, and safety-related resources for students and employees, consistent with policy and without unreasonably burdening another party.
  • Explain reporting options, available resolution processes, rights, responsibilities, and University resources to affected individuals.
  • Coordinate the University’s grievance and informal resolution processes as applicable; ensure that trained, impartial personnel are assigned to investigator, decision-maker, appeal, and facilitator roles and that prohibited role conflicts are avoided.
  • Monitor Title IX matters from initial report through resolution to support timely, equitable, impartial, and consistent administration of University procedures.
  • Maintain secure case records, training materials, documentation, and records required by law and University policy; protect privacy and confidentiality to the extent permitted by law.
  • Oversee and support Deputy Title IX Coordinators, including role clarity, protocols, communication, training, and periodic case-process review.
  • Coordinate required Title IX training for personnel involved in the Title IX process and provide education to students and employees regarding rights, reporting options, supportive measures, and University resources.
  • Maintain accurate and accessible Title IX contact, nondiscrimination, reporting, and policy information in University publications and online resources, in coordination with appropriate offices.
  • Review Title IX policies, procedures, notices, and educational materials and recommend updates based on legal requirements, regulatory developments, and institutional experience.
  • Coordinate with Human Resources, Student Affairs, Academic Affairs, Campus Security, legal counsel, and other offices when responsibilities intersect, including Clery-related coordination where applicable.
  • Monitor case data for recurring concerns, patterns, barriers to reporting, or systemic issues and communicate material compliance risks and recommended corrective actions to appropriate University leadership.
  • Maintain current role-specific training and knowledge necessary to carry out Title IX Coordinator responsibilities effectively.

Role Boundaries and Institutional Support

  • The Title IX Coordinator does not serve as the decision-maker or appeal decision-maker in a matter the Coordinator has overseen and will not perform any role that creates a conflict of interest or bias.
  • The Title IX coordinator will oversee and identify trained internal or external investigators, decision-makers, appeal officers, informal resolution facilitators, and legal resources so the Coordinator can oversee a fair process without personally performing every function.
  • Title IX responsibilities take priority when a report, urgent supportive measure, regulatory deadline, or active case requires immediate attention. Student engagement deadlines and events should be supported through cross-training and backup coverage.
  • The workload allocation should be reviewed periodically based on case volume, regulatory changes, training obligations, and the scope of engagement programming. Additional support or reassignment of duties may be necessary if Title IX demands regularly exceed the anticipated 30% allocation.
