GENERAL FUNCTION: Under the direction of the BD/SPD the Manager on Duty provides leadership and management for the branch facility to maintain high standards of excellence in all aspects of branch operations in collaboration with department leadership teams in accordance with all Greater Wichita YMCA policies, procedures and standards.
MINIMUM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Education/Experience Requirements:
- Minimum age of 21
- Minimum of two years customer service experience
- Minimum one-year supervisory experience
- Internal candidates not meeting above requirements must be employed for at least two years and have met or exceeded performance measurements.
Physical/Mental Requirements:
- Must be able to routinely perform the following physical activities; climb stairs, bend, stoop, kneel, twist, reach with hands, sit, stand for extended periods of time, walk, lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, have finger dexterity, grasp, perform repetitive motions, talk, hear and have visual acuity to perform detailed tasks
- Must have ability to communicate effectively; both orally and in writing
- Must possess problem solving, organizational and task management skills; ability to make independent and sound decisions in a rapidly changing environment
- Must be detail oriented and exhibit a high degree of accuracy and alertness
- Must demonstrate initiative in absence of supervision
- Must be able to relate to and work with diverse groups of people in a friendly and consistent manner
- Must work collaboratively as a team member as well as independently and lead by assigned goals, duties and deadlines
- Must possess ability to exercise high levels of discretion and confidentiality
- Must present a neat and professional appearance at all times
Job Requirements:
- Commitment to the YMCA mission, vision and values
- Must attend New Employee Orientation within 30 days of hire
- Complete CPR/AED, First Aid, O2, Listen First Workshop, and Membership Training in accordance with Conditions of Employment
- Learn Membership related functionality in member software
- Learn all emergency procedures and action plans for the branch
- Understand and abide-by all policies and procedures as set forth by the association
- Work a schedule that reflects the needs of the branch; including evenings and weekends
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Staff Development:
1. Making sure staff are actively exhibiting Culture of Excellence and are communicating the mission, vision and values of the Wichita YMCA.
1. Ensuring all staff are dressed appropriately for their program area as stated in the Employee Handbook.
2. Monitoring number of staff in each program area (ratios are met) and sending staff home if over-staffed.
3. Correcting inappropriate behavior as it occurs and communicating with direct supervisor to ensure appropriate disciplinary action is taken.
4. Ensuring all staff are present and working appropriately.
5. Making sure all staff are educated and knowledgeable regarding the crisis response plan.
Program Operations:
2. Conducting regular and frequent walk-throughs throughout work shift.
3. Ensuring all services comply with YMCA standards and methods of operation.
4. Monitoring and evaluating delivery and effectiveness of all programs and services throughout the branch and continually striving to attain the highest possible level of quality.
5. Ensuring proper implementation of front desk procedures.
6. Having comprehensive knowledge of association wide programs, as needed for the education of Member Service staff.
7. Ensuring all membership and program information is tactfully displayed and available in appropriate areas.
8. Being accessible and visible to staff and members.
9. Communicating with all departments regarding inquiries and concerns at the end of each shift to ensure a response is given within 24 hours.
10. Completing and submitting the required MOD report at the end of each work shift.
Strong Community Campaign/Financial Development:
1. Providing leadership for assigned aspects of Strong Community Campaign, special events and other fund development to ensure fundraising goals are met.
Facilities:
1. Maintaining complete familiarity with all risk management procedures and policies.
2. Ensuring daily completion of incident reports and proactive follow-up on unresolved issues.
3. Maintaining front desk area in an orderly, clean and safe condition.
Other:
1. Responsible for screening for abuse risk, providing ongoing supervision and training, offering regular feedback on boundaries, enforcing policies and procedures, responding promptly to violations, taking reports seriously and confidentially, following mandated reporting, communicating the organization's commitment to consumer protection, and reporting essential information to appropriate contact.
2. Communicating information promptly to all branch leadership and departmental staff.
3. Child Abuse Prevention - Responsible for adhering to boundary policies, attending required training, reporting concerns, following mandated reporting policy, fulfilling job-specific responsibilities such as maintaining and securing unused areas, and ensuring proper sign-in/out procedures.
4. Attending applicable training and conferences to further professional development.
