Job overview and responsibilities
The AO Business Strategy & Analytics team equips NOC and Airport Operations leaders with timely, data-driven insights that improve operational performance, strengthen decision-making, and support enterprise priorities. The team analyzes complex operational drivers, translates data into meaningful business narratives, and partners across functions to identify opportunities that enhance reliability, readiness, planning, and execution.
This role requires a strong combination of analytical depth, technical expertise, business acumen, and leadership capability. The successful candidate will work with large and complex datasets, apply advanced analytics and statistical methods, develop scalable reporting and data solutions, and communicate insights through clear visualizations and practical recommendations.
In this leadership position, the candidate will engage with senior leaders and cross-functional stakeholders to understand business needs, frame analytical opportunities, and deliver solutions that drive measurable operational impact. The role also includes managing priorities, developing team members, and advancing the use of modern analytics, automation, AI, and data governance practices across the organization.
Design and deliver data-driven solutions to address complex operational and business challenges across NOC and Airport Operations
Lead advanced analyses of large operational datasets to identify trends, root causes, performance drivers, and opportunities to improve reliability, readiness, planning, and execution
Develop scalable analytical solutions using SQL, Databricks, Python, statistical modeling, optimization techniques, machine learning, and AI/LLM-enabled tools
Champion integrated data solutions that connect operational data with broader enterprise datasets and enable analysts to use trusted, well-documented data assets
Establish and maintain strong data governance and documentation standards, including clear data definitions, source documentation, logic transparency, quality validation, and sustainable reporting practices
Translate business requirements into actionable insights through root-cause analysis, business knowledge, modeling, and statistical techniques
Create executive-ready visualizations, dashboards, and recommendations that clearly communicate performance opportunities to technical and non-technical audiences
Provide analytical and program management support for long-term strategic initiatives focused on operational readiness, performance management, and continuous improvement
Facilitate status meetings, communicate progress, manage stakeholder expectations, and ensure alignment with senior leadership and business partners
Improve team productivity by managing priorities, balancing employee bandwidth, removing roadblocks, and ensuring focus on the highest-value work
Manage, coach, and mentor direct and dotted-line reports through effective communication, performance feedback, knowledge sharing, and professional development
Advance the team’s use of automation, AI, and LLM tools to streamline workflows, reduce manual effort, and accelerate analytical delivery.
This position is offered on local terms and conditions. Expatriate assignments and sponsorship for employment visas, even on a time-limited visa status, will not be awarded. This position is for United Airlines Business Services Pvt. Ltd - a wholly owned subsidiary of United Airlines Inc.
Qualifications
What’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Analytics, or another quantitative discipline
6 or more years of experience in analytics, business intelligence, data science, operations research, or a related analytical field
2 or more years of experience leading analytics projects, managing cross-functional initiatives, or guiding analytical teams or LLM-enabled solutions
Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, navigate ambiguity, and adapt to evolving business needs while staying aligned to organizational goals
Experience partnering with business teams to understand operational processes and design data or technology solutions that deliver measurable outcomes
Strong project leadership skills with the ability to manage multiple workstreams, influence stakeholders, and deliver results in a fast-paced environment
Experience automating recurring reports, manual analyses, or operational workflows to improve speed, consistency, and efficiency
Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, PowerApps, and Power BI
Hands-on experience with Databricks, SQL, Python, and modern data platforms
Strong knowledge of statistical analysis, predictive analytics, and machine learning
Hands-on experience using AI/LLM tools (e.g., Copilot, Claude, ChatGPT) to improve productivity and automate analytical workflows
Excellent written, verbal, and visual communication skills, with the ability to explain complex quantitative analyses to peers, business partners, and senior leaders.
What will help you propel from the pack (Preferred Qualifications):
Master’s degree in Business Administration, Analytics, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Operations Research, Engineering, Computer Science, or another related quantitative discipline
Experience designing and improving operational metrics that support performance management, executive reporting, and business decision-making
Experience applying machine learning, optimization, simulation, or advanced analytical methods to practical business or operational problems
Strong people leadership, stakeholder management, and program management capabilities
Ability to design and track meaningful operational metrics preferred
Prior experience in leading a team
