About the Role

At Galatek Singapore, we develop high-precision, ultra-fast semiconductor manufacturing equipment enabling next-generation chip technology.

We are seeking a Manager / Principal – Motion Control & Algorithm to lead the architecture, algorithm development, and dynamic tuning of our flagship motion platforms. In this key role, you will bridge control theory, software algorithms, and mechatronic design to deliver sub-micron accuracy, rapid settling times, and rock-solid system stability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Architect Motion Systems & Algorithms: Design, simulate, and implement high-performance servo control algorithms (feedforward/feedback, PID, notch filtering, adaptive control, and disturbance rejection) in MATLAB/Simulink and C/C++.
  • Optimize Trajectory & Kinematics: Develop jerk-continuous motion profiles, multi-axis path planning algorithms, and error-compensation models (volumetric, thermal, and cross-talk) to maximize throughput and precision.
  • Master System Dynamics: Model complex mechanical structures, conduct system identification, and implement active vibration control, structural damping, and noise cancellation strategies.
  • Hardware & Software Integration: Deploy and tune real-time control algorithms on industrial motion controllers (e.g., ACS, Omron Delta Tau, Beckhoff) and synchronize them with high-speed vision alignment and sensor systems.
  • Drive Cross-Functional NPI: Lead system bring-up, root-cause debugging, modal analysis, and DFMEA/validation to transition prototypes into reliable commercial products.
  • Supplier & Technical Leadership: Partner with tier-1 motion component vendors (encoders, linear motors, interferometers) to evaluate tech roadmaps and make data-driven cost vs. performance decisions

Key Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. in Mechatronics, Control Systems, Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or a related discipline.
  • Experience: 8+ years of hands-on experience developing motion control architectures and algorithms for semiconductor equipment, advanced robotics, or high-precision industrial automation.
  • Control Theory & Algorithmic Depth: Strong background in state-space modeling, system identification, trajectory generation, and digital signal processing (DSP).
  • Software & Simulation Tools: Proficient with MATLAB/Simulink, Python, or C/C++ for algorithm design and data analysis.
  • Motion Controllers: Proven experience deploying real-time controls on platforms like ACS, Beckhoff TwinCAT, Omron Delta Tau, or custom RTOS systems.
  • Language Skills: Professional working proficiency in English and Mandarin to collaborate effectively with regional vendors and R&D partners across East Asia.
  • Mobility: Willingness to travel regionally (~25%) during critical product introduction and supplier evaluation phases.

Why Join Galatek?

  • Deep-Tech Impact: Work on zero-to-one precision engineering challenges that directly power the global semiconductor supply chain.
  • Global Talent Culture: Collaborate with multidisciplinary R&D experts across Singapore and international hubs.
  • Fair & Inclusive Workplace: Galatek adheres strictly to the Singapore Employment Act and Tripartite Guidelines on Fair Employment Practices (TAFEP). We evaluate all candidates based on merit and skill, and assist qualified global talent with MOM work pass applications.
