Manager, Product Development - EMV and Payment Technology

Overview
Mastercard delivers robust, high quality, and fully approved technology products that enable issuers, acquirers, and partners to bring secure and innovative payment solutions to market.
Within the Chip Engineering organization, the Product Approval Team plays a critical role in ensuring that these products—ranging from cardholder and acceptance devices to Wallet UIs, mobile applications, and back end systems—meet Mastercard standards and are delivered on time.
This role provides the opportunity to work globally across a wide spectrum of products, including device-based solutions, wearables, mobile payment applications, cloud based payment systems, transit solutions, and backend services.

Major Responsibilities
Operational Management
• Lead and manage operations related to Mobile Payment Applications, Wallet UI, Wearables, and Back-End Server Approvals.
• Ensure full compliance with Mastercard testing, branding, approval processes, and operational rules.
• Oversee the execution of global approval processes and associated requirements for:
o Wallet UI and Wearables
o Merchant Presented QR (MPQR)
o Cloud-Based Payments (MCBP)
o Token Service Providers (TSP)
o Trusted Service Managers (TSM) for SE/TEE-based solutions
o Link with MDES, GVCP and PCI teams to ensure all pre-requisites are met
• As a backup, manage operations related to Tap-on-phone Product Approvals
Vendor, Partner & Customer Engagement
• Act as a primary interface with key external partners, vendors, developers, and customers.
• Organize and lead weekly calls with stakeholders to track progress and resolve issues.
• Manage modifications to vendor contracts or agreements, engaging legal when required.
Accredited Laboratory Management
• Manage the Global Test Bench Identifier (GTBI) tool and ensure timely delivery to labs.


Data, Reporting & Process Automation
• Maintain product approval databases and tracking files, proposing and implementing continuous improvement ideas.
• Implement AI/Agent in our daily support activities and operations (when possible).
• Visual Basic developments to automate workflows and accelerate approval operations.
• Provide management with quarterly reports covering SLAs, approval volumes, KPIs, and key statistics.
• Manage bi-weekly internal approved products report
• Manage publications on Mastercard Connect
• Contribute to communiqués outlining process changes and enhancements.
Regional Support
• Support Mastercard Regional teams regarding product approval processes and product migration topics.

Required Skills & Experience
Education
• University degree in Engineering or equivalent practical experience; advanced degree preferred.
Professional Background
• 9+ years’ experience in quality assurance, project management, or business process engineering.
• Industry exposure in one or more of the following: software development, financial services, telecom/mobile, e commerce.
Technical & Domain Expertise
• Strong understanding of digital payment systems.
• In depth knowledge of chip card technology and EMV specifications.
• Familiarity with testing and approval methodologies is essential.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Access; Visual Basic development experience required.
Core Skills
• Excellent analytical and business writing skills.
• Strong project management capabilities with the ability to lead cross-functional initiatives without direct authority.
• Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and global stakeholder relationships.
• Business acumen and ability to provide solutions while managing customer expectations.
• Strong presentation and communication skills, with clarity in explaining concepts and processes.
• Self motivated with a strong record of success in team-based environments.
• Excellent command of English (Mandarin if possible), both spoken and written.
