SUMMARY Manages all activities related to assigned projects; ensures they are performed in accordance with approved procedures, guidelines, specifications and regulatory requirements and within specific established budgetary and schedule goals and commitments. Coordinates major projects requiring complex organizational interfaces typically requiring management of a multi-organizational matrix team. Manages projects of a strategic nature with high potential impact to the Station. Oversees project and contractor activities for compliance with applicable codes and standards, quality expectations, and other technical requirements. Directs the activities for the department. Manage organization resources to fulfill department and station goals. Assure proper implementation and application of corporate policy and guidelines.

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s degree in: Construction Management, Business or Engineering. (Preferred)
  • In lieu of a preferred degree, relevant experience will be considered, which shall include experience in the nuclear and industrial sector in management with 10 plus years required.

EXPERIENCE

  • 10 Years’ experience in a nuclear management position over projects, outages, construction, or maintenance.

Or

10 Years’ management experience over commercial, industrial construction, engineering or maintenance, focused on project management fundamentals, department resources, contractor management, scheduling and cost control. (6 of the 10 years must be in a nuclear management position. (Required)

  • 8 Years coordinating complex projects. (Required)
  • 5 Years supervisory experience. (Preferred)

LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS

  • SRO License (preferred)
  • SRO Certification (preferred)
  • Project Management Institute Certification (preferred)

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Manager Projects

Manages all activities related to assigned department responsibilities; ensures they are performed in accordance with approved procedures, guidelines, specifications and regulatory requirements and within specific established budgetary and schedule goals and commitments. Coordinates major projects requiring complex organizational interfaces typically requiring management of a multiorganizational matrix team. Manages projects of a strategic nature with high potential impact to the Station. Oversees project resources and contractor activities for compliance with applicable codes and standards, quality expectations, and other technical requirements.

  • Provides project leadership for business-critical strategic projects. Achieves station business plan goals associated with the project. This includes all project phases from project charter approval through closeout.
  • Responsible for project safety and human performance. This includes monitoring and measuring compliance with station standards and ensuring project supervision provides applicable behavioral reinforcement.
  • Monitors project activities for compliance with applicable local, state, federal codes, standards, and regulatory requirements. This includes vendor scope.
  • Responsible for project quality so station expectations for reliability & efficiency are met.
  • Control scope, schedule, & cost to ensure on-time and on-budget completion.
  • Monitors and communicates project progress and forecasts so that information is conveyed accurately and timely. Appropriate information will be provided to project stakeholders, station leadership, and owner representatives.
  • Investigates and analyzes reported and potential problems to determine causes and remedial/corrective actions. Establishes corrective actions for appropriateness, applicability, and technical adequacy.
  • Provides oversight for development and implementation of an integrated project team. This includes interfacing with station departments and vendors to ensure alignment on project goals.
  • Responsible for vendor contract compliance and provides concurrence for deviations from contractual terms and conditions. Ensures contractual milestone payments and change notices are factual and accurate.
  • Accept other assignments by direct chain of command as requested. For example outage roles and or emergency response organization positions.
  • Develops and maintains appropriate technical expertise within the work group to ensure adequate talent to perform meaningful assessments and program oversight.
  • Perform personnel activities for section employees (promotions, salary increases, transfers, hiring, counseling, performance appraisals, employee development plans). Resolves problems and interpersonal conflicts.
  • Interfaces with departments and contractors, providing information to assist in achieving project budgets, schedules, and other requirements. Provides necessary contractor oversight and monitoring to assure compliance with all site requirements.
  • Coordinates development of task estimates, project budgets, cash flows and integrated schedules for multiple projects, including implementation schedule.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Accept ERO position as needed.
  • Accept outage position as needed.
  • Monitor organizational activities, evaluate impact of internal and external factors (e.g., technology, regulations, business environment) and implements response plans.
  • Budget for ongoing and future expenses and monitor budget performance.
  • Provide leadership and direction to responsible organization.
  • Provide employees with tools and training necessary for them to perform their assignments.

  • Adept in business and budgetary planning and oversight. Ability to identify unanticipated changes in budget and schedule and the impact of these changes.
  • Ability to coordinate several concurrent project activities. Ability to organize and conduct effective meetings regarding specific projects. Ability to develop milestone and integrated activity schedules.
  • Ability to mentor innovative solutions and to lead sustained continuous improvement. Ability to apply knowledge of operating nuclear power plants systems and Technical Specifications requirements to plant modification and outage project planning schedules.
