Your Impact
The Protective Services Unit Manager is responsible for developing and sustaining an elite protective services capability that elevates the effectiveness, readiness, professionalism, and reputation of the Global Security organization. As the visible face of Global Security, the Protective Services Unit is expected to demonstrate professionalism, sound judgment, service excellence, and operational readiness while fostering trust, confidence, and a culture of service throughout the organization.
This role is designed for a builder—someone energized by developing people, raising standards, creating culture, and establishing a protective services team recognized for operational excellence, service, and preparedness.
Success in this role is measured not only by operational performance, but by the ability to create a lasting capability that strengthens the Global Security organization and supports Axon's long-term growth.
The ideal candidate will possess leadership experience in one or more of the following environments: military leadership, law enforcement leadership, corporate protective services, critical infrastructure protection, emergency response leadership, public safety operations, or other high-reliability operational environments.
Candidates should demonstrate a proven ability to lead highly trained personnel, establish professional standards, foster operational readiness, and build a culture of accountability, service, and continuous improvement.
What You'll Do
Protective Services Leadership
- Develop and sustain a highly trained Protective Services Unit recognized for professionalism, operational readiness, service excellence, and trusted response capabilities.
- Establish professional standards, operational expectations, and accountability measures that reinforce a culture of preparedness, discipline, and service.
- Build leadership depth within the Protective Services Unit through coaching, mentoring, succession planning, and professional development.
- Foster an environment where team members take pride in representing Global Security and serving the broader organization.
Operational Excellence & Readiness
- Ensure the Protective Services Unit maintains a constant state of operational readiness to effectively respond to security incidents, emergencies, and organizational needs.
- Lead planning, preparation, and execution of security operations supporting facilities, employees, visitors, and critical business activities.
- Conduct readiness assessments, exercises, and operational reviews to continuously improve response capabilities and team performance.
- Ensure operational decisions reflect professionalism, sound judgment, and service excellence.
- Develop and maintain training, qualification, and readiness standards that reinforce professional excellence and trusted response capabilities.
Business Partnership & Organizational Influence
- Serve as a trusted security partner to business leaders, supporting organizational objectives through professionalism, responsiveness, and service-oriented security operations.
- Build strong relationships across Facilities, EHS, Legal, HR, Workplace Experience, and business functions to ensure security services align with operational needs and employee expectations.
- Partner with stakeholders to identify opportunities where Protective Services can enhance safety, readiness, employee experience, and organizational resilience.
- Support company events, customer visits, executive engagements, and high-visibility activities through a professional security presence that reflects Axon's values and commitment to excellence.
- Promote positive engagement between the Protective Services Unit and employees by fostering trust, approachability, and a service-first mindset.
- Act as an ambassador for the Global Security organization by demonstrating professionalism, sound judgment, and operational excellence in every interaction.
- Contribute to the continued maturation of Global Security by identifying opportunities to strengthen partnerships, improve service delivery, and elevate organizational capabilities.
What You Bring
Experience & Leadership
- 10+ years of experience in military, law enforcement, corporate protective services, critical infrastructure protection, public safety, emergency response, or related disciplines.
- Minimum 5 years of progressive leadership experience managing security, law enforcement, military, protective services, or public safety teams.
- Demonstrated success leading high-performing teams in dynamic operational environments.
- Proven experience building culture, developing leaders, and creating sustainable organizational capability.
Leadership, Readiness & Capability Building
- Demonstrated ability to establish, sustain, and continuously improve operational readiness across a professional protective services organization.
- Proven experience developing training programs, professional standards, and performance expectations that elevate organizational capability and effectiveness.
- Ability to lead teams during critical incidents, emergencies, and rapidly evolving situations while maintaining professionalism, sound judgment, and operational discipline.
- Experience building cultures of accountability, preparedness, and service excellence that drive high performance and organizational trust.
- Demonstrated success developing operational capabilities that scale with organizational growth and evolving business needs.
Communication & Leadership Presence
- Demonstrated ability to inspire confidence, build trust, and represent the organization with professionalism, credibility, and sound judgment across all levels of the organization.
- Demonstrated leadership presence with the ability to motivate teams, positively influence culture, and strengthen organizational trust.
Education & Certifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred.
- Military leadership, law enforcement leadership, protective services leadership, or related experience highly valued.
- Relevant certifications such as CPP, PSP, CFE, CPTED, instructor certifications, or equivalent preferred.
Physical Requirement
The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of the position. The employee must be able to stand, walk, run, climb, kneel, crouch, bend, and move quickly in response to emergency situations. The position requires the ability to physically restrain and apprehend individuals when necessary, as well as lift, carry, push, and pull equipment and/or assist individuals. Officers may be required to work extended periods outdoors and in varying weather conditions and must be able to wear required duty gear and protective equipment for extended periods. Employees must possess the strength, agility, coordination, endurance, and mobility necessary to safely perform essential law enforcement duties.
