To provide direct supervision and utilization of staff and maintenance of the day-to-day operations of the Rehabilitation Services Department at Great River Health System. Plays an integral role in departmental operations, including but not limited to, treating patients, educating staff, the community, patients and families, recruiting and hiring qualified staff, promoting staff as appropriate, assigning work, rewarding and disciplining employees.
What you will do
- Performs job duties as a rehabilitation employee in the health system to understand work flow barriers, relieve staff when volumes fluctuate and lead by example.
- Perform direct supervision of staff, to include clinical reviews, documentation audits and billing practices consistent with patient care provided.
- Plan and prepare employee work schedules and provide guidance for sharing staff amongst campuses depending on need.
- Coordinate activities with other departments to ensure that services are provided in an efficient and timely manner.
- Implement, audit and maintain productivity and quality standards for the staff. Participates in quality initiatives health-system wide.
- Reviews and makes recommendations on departmental operating budget while being fiscally responsible. Stays within allocated budget annually and adjusts expenses as volume fluctuates.
- Recruits, interviews and selects appropriate staff. Provides orientation, mentoring and training as appropriate to maintain a competent and quality driven rehabilitation team.
- Forward and predictive thinking in regard to equipment needs and participates in capital budget process annually so staff have the equipment they need to do their jobs. Active in determining maintenance needs for building and equipment so quality care can be provided.
- Provides continuing education and professional development opportunities for the rehabilitation staff so high standards are maintained and staff remain engaged in their work.
- Conducts and oversees chart audits for quality, medical necessity, and general documentation standards.
- Participate in training and orientation of new staff; provides and/or encourages ongoing education and professional development.
- Evaluate employee performance as well as coach and motivate staff and recommend personnel actions such as promotions, transfers, and dismissals.
- Demonstrate a commitment to patient safety and quality through maintenance of a safe environment and equipment, providing assistance to visitors and customers throughout the facility and promote safe practice standards.
- Lead and encourage staff to resolve performance and personnel problems, by implementing company CREDO. Include Cup of Coffee conversations both by example and recommendation.
- Delegate or perform supply ordering, monitor levels of supplies based on volumes and stay up to date on rehabilitation services supply brands and use consistent with current standards or care.
- Remains survey ready and educate staff on first hour readiness and survey preparedness, so the health system remains safe and solvent.
- Attend mandatory leadership meetings for health system and communicate information to staff.
Qualifications:
- Associate’s Degree (AA) in healthcare related field Required
- 1-3 years years of related work experience Preferred
- 1-3 years Previous supervisory experience in related area Preferred
- Physical Therapist Upon Hire Required or
- Physical Therapist Assistant Upon Hire Required or
- Occupational Therapist Upon Hire Required or
- Occupational Therapy Assistant Upon Hire Required or
- Speech Language Pathologist Upon Hire Required or
- Registered Nurse Upon Hire Required or
- License Athletic Trainer Upon Hire Required or
