Role Opportunity: Manager, Safety
Drive Country’s Safety First strategy and strengthen a safe, healthy and compliant working environment. Partner with leaders, employees and external stakeholders to implement effective health, safety and environmental systems in line with business needs, corporate standards and Singapore legislative requirements.
Your Tasks
• Lead country implementation of DHL Express Global and Regional safety policies, frameworks and procedures, administer local practices, and advise leadership on current and emerging safety requirements and their business implications
• Develop, deliver and rigorously monitor the annual country safety plan; implement an ISO 45001-compliant health and safety management system and maintain bizSAFE Level 3 certification.
• Partner with the Country leadership, safety representatives and employees to address safety concerns, strengthen the safety committee and communication structure, and promote a positive safety culture.
• Conduct risk assessments, workplace and facility inspections, and country or regional safety audits; identify hazards and non-compliance, then drive timely corrective and preventive actions.
• Investigate accidents, incidents, injuries and fatalities; analyse causes and trends, prepare reports and prevention measures, maintain accurate statistics, and meet internal and legislative reporting requirements.
• Plan and deliver regular safety training and communications, and lead improvement projects—including applicable online safety-management platforms—to improve the effectiveness of HSE practices.
• Coordinate fire and emergency preparedness, including evacuation and response arrangements, SCDF submissions, and acting or registering as the designated Fire Safety Manager where required.
• Build effective relationships with employees, contractors, customers, enforcing authorities and emergency services; respond to customer H&S matters and align country practices with Global and Regional requirements.
What You Bring
• A diploma or degree in occupational health and safety, workplace safety and health, or a related discipline.
• At least 7 years of health and safety management experience in an operational environment; logistics, express or multinational experience is advantageous.
• Registration with Singapore’s Ministry of Manpower as a Workplace Safety and Health Officer, where required for the appointment.
• Fire Safety Manager certification and the ability to fulfil the site’s fire-safety responsibilities.
• ISO 45001 Lead or Internal Auditor certification is preferred, together with practical knowledge of ISO 45001 and recognised safety-management approaches.
• Strong capability in risk assessment, auditing, incident investigation, regulatory compliance and safety-performance reporting.
• Clear communication, sound judgement and the ability to influence stakeholders and drive change without direct reporting authority.
• Confidence working across cultures and adapting safety programmes to different operational and legal requirements.
• Fluent written and spoken English to interpret safety requirements, prepare reports, deliver training and communicate with employees, leaders, authorities and emergency services in Singapore.
• A proactive, collaborative and improvement-focused approach to creating a safe and healthy workplace.
