Manager / Senior Executive, Finance & Compliance
Job Summary:
The Accountant is responsible for managing the organisation’s day-to-day accounting and financial reporting functions, ensuring accurate and timely financial information for management and stakeholders.
The role will primarily focus on Finance (80%), with responsibility for Compliance (20%), including accounting standards, internal controls, regulatory requirements and charity governance.
Key Responsibilities
A. Finance – 80%
• Handle the full set of accounts, including accounts payable, accounts receivable and general ledger functions.
• Prepare monthly financial reports and management accounts.
• Prepare donor fund and grant-related financial reports.
• Maintain accurate and complete financial records and ensure accuracy of financial transactions.
• Perform monthly reconciliations and review accounting entries to ensure completeness and accuracy.
• Manage accounts payable and receivable, including payment processing and collection follow-up.
• Assist in the preparation of annual budgets, forecasts and financial plans.
• Monitor actual expenditure against approved budgets and highlight significant variances to management.
• Support the preparation of year-end accounts and coordinate with external auditors.
• Support financial audits by preparing schedules, supporting documents and other information required.
• Provide financial information and analysis to management to support financial planning and decision-making.
• Review and improve accounting processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
• Assist with cash flow monitoring and financial planning.
• Perform other finance-related duties as assigned.
B. Compliance – 20%
• Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, internal controls and regulatory requirements.
• Monitor compliance with relevant charity regulations and financial governance requirements.
• Maintain appropriate financial documentation and records to support compliance and audit requirements.
• Assist in reviewing and strengthening internal controls, SOP and policies.
• Keep up to date with changes in relevant accounting, regulatory and charity requirements and support their implementation.
• Identify potential compliance issues and highlight them to management in a timely manner.
• Support the organisation in maintaining proper financial governance and compliance practices.
