- Flexible on level – Manager or Senior Manager
- Flexibility that fits your life
Ready for more than just managing compliance?
This is an opportunity to step into a leadership role where you'll have genuine influence, direct client ownership, and a clear pathway for growth.
Working closely alongside the Regional Leader of our Auckland Business Advisory Services practice and leader of Grant Thornton's Property & Construction sector, you'll be empowered to lead client engagements, build trusted advisor relationships, and help shape the future of a growing practice.
We're looking for someone who enjoys working directly with clients, thrives on solving commercial problems, and wants to play a bigger role in developing both people and business opportunities. Whether you're an experienced Manager ready for your next challenge, an ambitious Assistant Manager prepared to step up, or an established Senior Manager looking for a fresh environment, we'd love to hear from you.
At Grant Thornton, we believe great people do their best work when they're trusted, supported, and given room to grow. We value authenticity, collaboration, and leadership at every level.
Make an Impact as a Manager
You'll lead a significant portfolio of clients, with a strong presence in the Property & Construction sector, taking ownership of relationships and client outcomes.
You'll combine technical excellence with commercial insight, supporting clients through both their compliance obligations and broader business decisions. You'll have the autonomy to manage relationships, identify opportunities for additional value, and become a trusted advisor to business owners and decision makers.
Just as importantly, you'll help develop the next generation of talented advisors through coaching, mentoring, and leadership.
Why this role is different
Not every BAS Manager role is created equal.
This is more than reviewing compliance work and managing workflow. You'll be a trusted advisor to a diverse portfolio of clients, many operating within New Zealand's dynamic Property & Construction sector.
You'll work alongside a Partner who is passionate about developing people, empowering future leaders, and creating opportunities for growth. You'll be encouraged to bring your own ideas, challenge conventional thinking, and take ownership of meaningful client relationships from day one.
If you're someone who wants:
- Greater exposure to complex advisory work
- Direct access to senior leadership and mentoring
- The opportunity to lead and influence client engagements
- A genuine voice in shaping team and client outcomes
- A culture where authenticity matters more than hierarchy
This could be the role you've been looking for.
About You
While this role is ideally suited to an experienced Manager, we're equally interested in ambitious Assistant Managers ready to step up or established Senior Managers looking for a leadership opportunity where they can make a real impact.
You'll bring:
- Experience in a Business Advisory Services environment within a CA firm
- Strong technical accounting and tax knowledge
- Confidence leading client conversations and managing relationships
- A commercial mindset and natural curiosity about clients and their businesses
- The ability to simplify complex issues and provide practical solutions
- A collaborative leadership style and passion for developing others
- Initiative, accountability, and a desire to keep growing
