Job Description: Manager / Senior Manager IT Procurement & Telecom
Department: IT / Procurement | Location: Kolkata | Reports to: IT Head
Role Purpose
Own end-to-end procurement of IT hardware, mobile devices, software, network and telecom services, ensuring the right technology at the best price, quality and delivery, tight control over telecom spend, and strong, ethical vendor relationships.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct market research and benchmarking of IT products and services (laptops, servers, storage, networking, software, telecom).
- Evaluate technical specifications with the IT team and prepare RFQs/RFPs and comparative statements.
- Negotiate prices, SLAs, warranties and payment terms with vendors; close rate contracts and AMCs.
- Procure mobile devices (Apple, Android) through OEMs, distributors and local vendors; build local vendor relationships to ensure quick availability and delivery.
- Manage vendor relationships end to end: onboarding, performance reviews, escalations and issue resolution.
- Register and maintain vendors in SAP; keep performance and compliance records.
- Raise and release Purchase Requisitions and Purchase Orders in SAP (MM); follow up on deliveries, GRN and invoice clearance.
- Manage telecom services: mobile plans, leased lines, MPLS/ILL, internet, SIM and ISP contracts.
- Reconcile telecom bills against contracts and usage; raise disputes and ensure credits.
- Track IT asset purchases, licence renewals, warranty and contract expiry.
- Report on spend, savings and vendor performance to management.
Requirements
- Graduate in Engineering / IT / Commerce; MBA (Supply Chain) preferred.
- Manager: 8-12 years; Senior Manager: 12+ years in IT procurement and telecom management.
- Strong knowledge of laptop, server, storage, network device (switch, firewall, Wi-Fi, router), mobile device and telecom configurations.
- Proven negotiation and vendor relationship management skills with demonstrated cost savings.
- Hands-on proficiency in SAP MM (PR/PO, vendor master, GRN, invoice verification).
- Experience in telecom bill audit and reconciliation.
- High integrity and ethical conduct; fair, transparent and compliant in all vendor dealings.
- Strong Excel, analytical and communication skills.
