Job Overview
The Manager, Site Reliability provides strategic and technical leadership for software engineering teams responsible for T-Mobile's high-performance systems. This role ensures the scalability, availability, and reliability of platforms supporting complex operations across multi-functional services. By driving operational excellence and implementing best practices, the manager enhances the stability and efficiency of mission-critical systems. The position also leads organizational growth initiatives, including talent acquisition, career development, and succession planning, to build and sustain high-performing teams. Through coaching, mentoring, and collaboration with operations, the manager supports T-Mobile's commitment to delivering robust and innovative billing solutions.Job Responsibilities:
  • Provides strategic and technical leadership to software engineering teams to ensure scalability, availability, and reliability of high-performance platforms supporting multi-functional services.
  • Drives operational excellence by implementing best practices that enhance the stability and efficiency of mission-critical systems.
  • Leads organizational growth initiatives by overseeing talent acquisition, career development, and succession planning to build and sustain high-performing teams.
  • Coaches and mentors team members to foster professional development and support organizational objectives.
  • Collaborates with operations and cross-functional stakeholders to deliver robust and innovative billing solutions aligned with business goals.
  • Monitors system performance and reliability, proactively identifies and resolves issues to maintain optimal service levels.
  • Develops and maintains documentation, standards, and processes to ensure consistent and effective system operations.

Education and Work Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or Related Field or equivalent experience (Required)
  • Master's/Advanced Degree Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or Related Field (Preferred)
  • 4-7 years Managing software engineering teams responsible for high-performance, scalable systems (Preferred)
  • 4-7 years Implementing site reliability engineering practices to ensure system availability and operational excellence (Preferred)
  • 2-4 years Leading organizational growth initiatives such as talent acquisition, career development, and succession planning (Preferred)

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Strategic Leadership Ability to provide strategic direction and technical leadership to site reliability engineering teams, ensuring alignment with organizational goals. (Required)
  • Process Improvement Experience in implementing best practices and driving operational excellence to enhance system stability, scalability, and efficiency. (Required)
  • Technical Leadership Proven capability to lead software engineering teams in the design, deployment, and maintenance of high-performance systems. (Required)
  • Collaboration Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including operations and product management, to deliver robust solutions. (Required)
  • Coaching Skill in mentoring and developing team members to build and sustain high-performing teams. (Required)
  • Problem Solving Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to address complex reliability and scalability challenges in mission-critical systems. (Required)

Licenses and Certifications:
  • Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA): Certification that validates expertise in managing and orchestrating containerized applications using Kubernetes, essential for ensuring scalability and reliability in high-performance systems. (Preferred)
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate: Certification demonstrating proficiency in designing and deploying scalable, reliable systems on Amazon Web Services, relevant for cloud-based platform reliability and availability. (Preferred)
  • Google Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer: Certification that verifies skills in managing service reliability, performance, and scalability on Google Cloud Platform, aligning with operational excellence in site reliability engineering. (Preferred)
  • At least 18 years of age

Total Target Cash Earnings Opportunity: $146,970 - $265,190National Base Pay Range: $127,800 - $230,600

At T-Mobile, employees in regular, non-temporary roles are eligible for an annual bonus or periodic sales incentive or bonus, based on their role. Corporate employees are eligible for a year-end bonus based on individual and/or company performance and which is set at a percentage of the employee’s eligible earnings in the prior year. Certain positions in Customer Care are eligible for monthly bonuses based on individual and/or team performance. The incentive component included in the Total Target Cash Earnings Opportunity reflects target performance.
