Manager, Special Education Service Delivery

The Office for Students with Disabilities (OSD) works to support networks, schools, and families with all issues related to special education including instruction, interventions, and legal and compliance support. OSD provides the tools and resources to ensure that all diverse learners receive a high-quality public education that prepares students for success. Diverse Learners in our district refers to students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and 504 Plans. OSD supports networks, schools, and families with all issues related to special education, including instruction, interventions, and legal and compliance support.

Job Summary\:

Reporting to the Director of Service Delivery of OSD, the Manager, Special Education Service Delivery is charged with supervising the planning, organization, administration and management of the programs for services for students who present with disabilities. The manager is also responsible for policy, professional, and program development and evaluation, curriculum adoption and development surrounding instructional strategies, practices, and supports. This is a full-time, exempt position that will be paid for time worked on a salary basis.

The Manager, Special Education Service Delivery will be held accountable for the following responsibilities\:

  • Oversee one or more teams of Service Delivery staff providing support in any of the following areas, including but not limited to\: Visual Impairment, Deaf/Hard of Hearing, Hospital-based instruction, Early Childhood Special Education, and/or Assistive Technology resources
  • Increase collaboration with school-based teams to provide evidence-based instructional services and supports such that all students may access the general education curriculum, especially students with disabilities, in the least restrictive environment
  • Build district capacity around special education educational models and evidence-based practices, to ensure that students receive specialized instruction in order to demonstrate a full repertoire of competencies that positively impact student achievement, especially as it pertains to students with disabilities
  • Develop structures based upon deep analyses of student, classroom, school, network, and district-level data to promote early access to and acquisition of the skills and competencies required for significant growth and achievement
  • Facilitate the creation and implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and transition plans that allow students who present with a disability to realize postsecondary college, career, and independent living goals
  • Create and maintain a diversified professional development portfolio for use with parents, educators, and community stakeholders
  • Other duties and workstreams as assigned
