Position Summary

The Manager, Tax Technology (SAP) leads the delivery of SAP-based tax technology implementations and oversees multiple project teams responsible for SAP transaction tax automation projects. This role combines functional and technical leadership, resources management, and client delivery oversight, ensuring high quality execution across complex, multi-workstream implementations. The Manager serves as an escalation point for project issues, mentors consultants, and partners with leadership to grow DMA’s Tax Technology practice through effective delivery and business development support.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee multiple SAP-based tax technology implementation projects, ensuring successful execution across scope, schedule, and quality expectations.

  • Own and manage all phases of the project implementation lifecycle, including planning, requirements gathering, solution design, SAP and tax engine configuration, testing, knowledge transfer, and cutover support.

  • Serve as a primary escalation point for project and client delivery issues.

  • Provide subject matter expertise to clients on third-party tax engines, SAP tax configuration, and integration considerations.

  • Lead or support client workshops to define functional and technical requirements, business processes, and data impacts related to transaction tax solutions.

  • Oversee SAP tax impacts within SD, MM, and FI, ensuring alignment with accounting, pricing, and operational processes.

  • Provide leadership, coaching, and performance guidance to Consultants, Senior Consultants, and Lead Consultants, supporting professional growth and skill development.

  • Review project deliverables and documentation to ensure adherence to DMA standards and best practices.

  • Provide leadership with visibility into project financial performance, including production status, revenue impact, resource utilization and delivery forecasting.

  • Contribute to the development and refinement of standard implementation methodologies, templates, documentation, and reusable assets.

  • Support business development efforts by assisting with solution scoping, estimation, and proposal development.

  • Support internal initiatives focused on process improvement, automation, or practice development.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Accounting, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field required.

  • 6–10 years of experience in tax technology, SAP implementations, or consulting roles with progressive responsibility.

  • Strong understanding of third-party transaction tax engines and integration architectures.

  • Subject matter expertise in tax processes, SAP integrations, and impacts across SD, MM, and FI modules.

  • Functional and technical knowledge designing and building solutions within SAP leveraging industry standards and SAP Best Practices.

  • Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills.

  • Proven ability to lead project teams, provide work direction, and manage multiple concurrent engagements.

  • Experience mentoring and managing consulting professionals.

  • PMP or formal project management experience preferred.

  • Excellent verbal, written, and executive-level communication skills.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Work Schedule: Regular, 40 hours/week

  • Travel: 40-50%
