The Manager, Workface Planning (WFP) will serve as the Owner’s site representative responsible for oversight and assurance of Workface Planning activities performed by all contractors at Venture Global’s CP2 Facility. This position will be based on site in Cameron, Louisiana and reporting to the Director of AWP.
This is an oversight and governance role with responsibilities to coordinate issue resolution, the contractors are responsible for developing IWPs, managing constraints, maintaining executable work packages, and performing the day-to-day Workface Planning activities. The Owner WFP Manager is responsible for ensuring those activities are being performed correctly, consistently, and early enough to support safe and efficient construction execution.
The successful candidate will have strong field construction experience combined with practical knowledge of Advanced Work Packaging (AWP), Workface Planning, Installation Work Packages (IWPs), construction readiness, and constraint management.
Critical Role Distinction
The Manager, Workface Planning owns assurance of the Workface Planning process while working with the EPC Contractor to assist in owning the execution process.
The successful candidate will ensure the EPC Contractor and its subcontractors have an effective WFP organization and are consistently delivering well-planned, constraint-free, executable work to the field without creating a parallel Owner organization that performs the contractor’s Workface Planning responsibilities.
General Description Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide Owner oversight of all contractors Workface Planning programs and personnel.
- Ensure WFP activities comply with the project’s AWP/WFP execution strategy, procedures, contractual requirements, and established industry practices.
- Monitor the quality, maturity, and timely development of Installation Work Packages (IWPs).
- Verify that IWPs represent logical, executable scopes of work and contain the information required by field supervision and craft.
- Oversee the contractor’s constraint management and IWP readiness processes.
- Ensure engineering, materials, access, predecessor work, equipment, permits, quality, safety, and other constraints are identified and resolved sufficiently ahead of construction.
- Monitor IWP development against the construction schedule and ensure an adequate backlog of executable, constraint-free work is maintained.
- Conduct WFP audits, field observations, IWP quality reviews, and performance assessments across EPC and subcontractor organizations.
- Monitor WFP KPIs and identify trends or systemic issues affecting construction readiness and field productivity.
- Identify deficiencies in Contractor WFP performance and drive corrective actions through the Integrated Project Management Team.
- Ensure Workface Planning is effectively integrated with Construction, Engineering, Field Engineering, Procurement, Materials Management, Project Controls, Quality, HSE, and Completions.
- Provide regular WFP performance reporting and escalation of significant issues to Owner Construction and AWP leadership.
- Promote consistent WFP implementation across construction disciplines, areas, and subcontractors.
Qualifications
Required experience
- Extensive construction experience on large industrial, LNG, petrochemical, energy, or major EPC projects.
- Strong practical knowledge of Advanced Work Packaging (AWP) and Workface Planning (WFP).
- Experience with CWPs, IWPs, construction sequencing, constraint management, and construction readiness.
- Experience overseeing EPC contractors and major construction subcontractors.
- Strong understanding of the interfaces between Engineering, Procurement, Materials, Project Controls, and Construction.
- Ability to evaluate contractor performance, identify deficiencies, and drive corrective action without assuming responsibility for contractor execution.
- Strong leadership, communication, facilitation, and contractor-management skills.
Preferred Experience
- LNG or major process facility experience strongly preferred.
- Previous Owner/operator experience overseeing EPC construction execution is preferred.
