What You'll Do
As the Managing Accountant for our Medical Billing Negotiation Team, you'll oversee the financial management of settled cases awaiting medical bill negotiations. You'll ensure accurate reporting, monitor case aging, identify opportunities to improve negotiation timelines, and partner with leadership to optimize cash flow and operational performance.
Your work will directly impact the firm's ability to recover funds faster, reduce backlogs, and improve financial forecasting.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Case Aging
- Maintain accurate, real-time aging reports for all settled cases pending medical bill negotiations.
- Monitor negotiation timelines and identify cases requiring immediate attention.
- Prepare weekly and monthly executive reports with actionable insights and performance trends.
- Ensure financial visibility across the entire post-settlement pipeline.
Inventory & Pipeline Analysis
- Analyze case inventory to identify bottlenecks, delays, and opportunities for faster resolution.
- Prioritize cases based on settlement value, lien complexity, and negotiation stage.
- Recommend data-driven strategies to reduce aging and improve recovery timelines.
- Support leadership with forecasting and pipeline planning.
Financial Oversight & Reconciliation
- Reconcile settlement funds, medical bills, negotiated reductions, and financial records.
- Verify the accuracy of financial transactions and settlement allocations.
- Collaborate with Finance, Negotiators, and Case Managers to ensure complete and accurate case accounting.
- Maintain compliance with internal financial controls and reporting standards.
Process Improvement & Performance Management
- Design dashboards and reporting tools that provide real-time visibility into team performance.
- Identify workflow inefficiencies and implement process improvements.
- Develop KPIs that measure negotiation turnaround time, backlog reduction, and financial performance.
- Help build scalable systems that improve operational efficiency.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Act as the primary financial partner for the Medical Billing Negotiation team.
- Work closely with Legal, Operations, Finance, and Leadership to ensure alignment on case status and expected collections.
- Provide financial insights that support strategic decision-making and business growth.

What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 5+ years of accounting or financial analysis experience.
- Experience with reconciliations, aging reports, and financial reporting.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in medical billing, healthcare finance, legal accounting, or settlement accounting.
- Familiarity with medical liens, post-settlement accounting, or claims management.
- Experience with case management or legal practice management software.
- Knowledge of dashboard and reporting platforms such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar business intelligence tools.
