Managing Director
Summary
Leads a Singapore-based ocean technology firm, setting strategy, driving growth in oil and gas (especially China), and overseeing operations, finance, and compliance.

II. Position Summary
The Managing Director is responsible for the overall leadership, strategic direction and management of the Company. The role is accountable for achieving the Company's business objectives, financial performance and operational excellence while ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations and industry standards.
The Managing Director will work closely with customers, business partners and shareholders to drive sustainable growth, strengthen the Company's presence in the oil and gas industry, and expand business opportunities, particularly within the China market.
III. Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Leadership
- Develop and execute the Company's strategic and business plans.
- Establish annual business objectives and monitor performance against agreed targets.
- Identify new business opportunities and growth initiatives.
- Provide leadership and direction to achieve the Company's long-term goals.
2. Business Development & Commercial Management
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers, suppliers and business partners.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities within Singapore, the Asia-Pacific region and China.
- Lead commercial negotiations, contract discussions and strategic partnerships.
- Represent the Company in meetings, industry events and customer engagements.
3. Operational Management
- Oversee the Company's day-to-day operations to ensure efficient and effective business performance.
- Ensure projects are executed safely, on schedule, within budget and in accordance with customer requirements.
- Drive continuous improvement in operational efficiency, productivity and service delivery.
4. Financial Management
- Oversee the Company's financial performance, budgeting and cash flow.
- Ensure effective cost control and prudent financial management.
- Review and approve budgets, investments and major expenditures within delegated authority.
- Report financial and operational performance to the Board of Directors.
5. People Leadership
- Lead, motivate and develop the management team.
- Foster a positive, accountable and high-performance work culture.
- Ensure appropriate manpower planning, succession planning and talent development.
- Support employee engagement and organisational development.
6. Corporate Governance & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations and Company policies.
- Maintain high standards of corporate governance and ethical business conduct.
- Oversee corporate risk management and business continuity planning.
- Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and statutory requirements.
7. Health, Safety, Environment & Quality (HSEQ)
- Promote a strong HSEQ culture across the organisation.
- Ensure compliance with applicable HSE legislation, customer requirements and Company policies.
- Support the continual improvement of the Company's Quality Management System and operational processes.
8. Stakeholder Management
- Maintain effective communication with shareholders, customers, regulatory authorities and business partners.
- Strengthen the Company's reputation and market presence.
- Build long-term strategic relationships that support sustainable business growth.
IV. Authority
The Managing Director is authorised to:
- Manage the overall operations of the Company.
- Approve expenditure within delegated authority.
- Approve recruitment, promotions and employment matters in accordance with Company policies.
- Negotiate and execute commercial agreements within delegated authority.
- Represent the Company in dealings with customers, suppliers, regulatory authorities and other external stakeholders.
- Recommend strategic initiatives, investments and business opportunities to the Board of Directors.
V. Qualifications & Experience
- Degree in Engineering, Business, Management or a related discipline.
- At least 10 years' senior management experience, preferably in the oil and gas, offshore or energy industry.
- Proven experience in business development, commercial management and organisational leadership.
- Familiar with the China oil and gas market, including local business practices, customer expectations and regulatory environment.
- Experience working with Chinese customers, suppliers or business partners is highly desirable.
- Strong financial, commercial and strategic planning skills.
- Good understanding of HSEQ management systems and corporate governance.
- Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a multicultural and international business environment.
- Willingness to travel locally and overseas as required
