Manual Tester

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Manual QA Engineer to join our Quality

Assurance team. In this role, you will be responsible for testing complex payment processing

applications, transaction flows, and backend systems. You will work closely with developers,

product managers, and system architects to ensure high software quality, security, and

performance.

The ideal candidate has strong domain expertise in Payment Gateways / Fintech, proficiency

in API testing, solid hands-on experience with SQL for database validation, and comfortable

working within Linux/Unix environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Payment Gateway & Domain Testing:

Design, write, and execute end-to-end manual test cases for payment

gateway integrations, checkout flows, refund operations,

authorization/capture cycles, and chargebacks.

Validate payment gateway transactions across multiple payment methods

(Credit/Debit cards, Net Banking, Digital Wallets, UPI, Recurring Billing).

Ensure compliance with payment industry standards (e.g., PCI-DSS, 3D

Secure authentication).

• API & System Testing:

Perform functional, negative, and edge-case testing of RESTful and SOAP

APIs using tools like Postman, Insomnia, or SoapUI.

Verify API request/response payloads, HTTP status codes, headers, and error

handling mechanisms.

• Database & Data Validation:

Execute SQL queries (JOINs, subqueries, group functions) to validate backend

data integrity, transaction logs, ledger balances, and audit trails.

Compare UI/API data against database records to identify discrepancies.

• Linux & Server-Side Execution: Navigate Linux systems using shell commands to inspect application log files

(e.g., grep, tail -f, awk) for troubleshooting issues and root cause analysis.

Monitor system processes, microservices, and server health during test

execution.

• Defect Management & Process Improvement:

Report, track, and manage defects using tools like Jira or Azure DevOps with

detailed steps to reproduce, logs, and screenshots.

Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies (Sprint Planning, Daily Standups,

Grooming, Retrospectives).

Required Qualifications & Skills

• Experience: 36+ years of manual software testing experience.
• Domain Knowledge: Minimum 2+ years of hands-on experience in Payment

Gateways, Merchant Onboarding, E-Commerce Checkout, or Fintech applications.

• API Testing: Strong command over testing REST APIs, JSON/XML payloads,

authentication mechanisms (OAuth 2.0, API Keys, Bearer Tokens), and API mock

testing.

• SQL Skills: Strong knowledge of relational databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, or

SQL Server) and writing complex SQL queries.

• Linux Expertise: Comfortable with basic-to-intermediate Linux/Unix commands for

log analysis, file manipulation, and navigation.

• Core QA Competencies: Deep understanding of STLC, SDLC, test case design

techniques, exploratory testing, and bug lifecycle management.

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software

Engineering, or equivalent experience.
