Position Title: Manufacturing and Field Quality Engineer - Pumps

Position Summary:
The Manufacturing and Field Quality Engineer is the point of contact for reviewing and responding to customer quality complaints with appropriate next steps in a timely manner. Maintains communication with customer contacts through phone and email as well as online or face-to-face meetings, and must maintain and present data, time plans, and corrective actions to both customer and internal stakeholders. Drives internal corrective actions through interfacing with production personnel and other internal functions. Provides APQP input to the Product Development team. Develops, modifies, applies, and maintains quality standards for Customer products and processes. Provide statistical information for quality improvement by gathering data on trends and root cause analysis. Responsible to guide technical evaluation, analysis, and related data acquisition processes to ensure plant quality objectives are achieved.
Essential Functions:
· Customer facing contact point for initiating problem solving actions, communicating next steps and driving open quality complaints to closure with appropriate corrective actions.
· Maintains a professional and respectful communication with customer contacts to reach mutually acceptable resolution to time-critical and potentially costly quality incidents
· Devises and implements various methods and procedures for inspecting, testing and evaluating the precision, reliability and accuracy of products, processes and production equipment.
· Reviews and dispositions Customer products or materials that do not meet required standards and specifications with the aid of other division resources through statistical analyses.
· Provides input on Customer quality to product development teams.
· Identifies quality performance trends and develops corrective action plans. Ensures compliance to specified quality requirements by performing in-house audits and surveys. Develops and initiates programs to improve overall performance.
· Prepares reports by collecting, interpreting, analyzing and summarizing data and making recommendations.
· Responsible for communicating, investigating and leading problem solving activities for customer quality concerns and complaints.
· Contributes to lean activities and continuous improvement initiatives internally and at Suppliers.
· Represents company by interfacing with customers and assisting with internal and external audits. May act as main contact during an audit. Develops and coordinates corrective action plans.
· Communicates and educates Value Stream Team on matters requiring specialized knowledge of quality functions, i.e., Production Approval Process (PPAP), Advanced Product Quality Process (APQP), and document control.
· Makes quality-related customer visits as required.
· Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing publications, establishing industry networks, benchmarking state-of-the-art practices and/or participating in other professional associations.
· Perform all other incidental and related duties as required and assigned
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree (BS) in Engineering or a related discipline.
· Demonstrated ability to perform the essential functions of the job typically acquired through two or more years of related experience.
· Ability to effectively manage a number of quality complaints from a number of customers around the world, and maintain effective communication with each customer.
· Strong negotiation skills are required, as well as good time management, and ability to engage in fast-pased and challenging problem solving while maintaining composure
· Ability to review, maintain and report out on data collected to both customers and internal stakeholders, and drive all issues to closure in a timely manner
· Thorough knowledge of state-of-the-art quality inspection and engineering/assurance techniques, procedures, instruments, equipment, theories, principles and concepts and general business operations.
· Ability to effectively implement continuous improvement techniques to product realization functions.
· Wide range of manufacturing exposure in various industries desired
· Ability to use standard business applications software and/or specialized data analysis tools.
· Ability to establish goals and objectives to complete projects.
· Ability to effectively communicate and present information to team members, team leaders and top management.
· Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
· Ability to effectively participate in goal-setting, performance feedback and self-development activities.
· Six Sigma and Lean tools experience is desired.
· Experience in maintaining and improving ISO9001 and IATF 16949 Systems is desired.
· Experience with AIAG core tools & automotive systems desired.
Job related demands (i.e. physical, travel):
· Moderate travel to suppliers to perform audits and verify corrective actions
· Flexibility to alter work schedule for timely completion of projects
· Prioritization of multiple projects to meet operational goals
· Ability to handle sensitive and confidential issues with tact and diplomacy
· Maintain professional knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and/or participating in professional associations
· Ability to lift and move objects up to 35 lbs. without assistance and occasionally up to 50 lbs following company safe lifting protocol
· Ability to stand and/or sit for long periods of time
· Ability to work in an environment with powdered metal, dust, noise, oils and chemicals
