Manufacturing Cost Engineer

Key Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate product quotations based on customer drawings, specifications, and technical requirements.
- Analyze manufacturing processes, material requirements, labor hours, and production costs to develop competitive quotations.
- Review new product designs and collaborate with Engineering, Production, and Purchasing teams to determine manufacturing feasibility.
- Create and maintain product Bills of Materials (BOM), ensuring material accuracy and cost optimization.
- Source and obtain quotations from suppliers for raw materials, standard components, and outsourced processes.
- Coordinate with suppliers and internal departments to ensure timely completion of quotation activities.
- Prepare cost breakdowns, profitability analyses, and quotation summaries for management approval.
- Support New Product Introduction (NPI) by evaluating manufacturing costs and process requirements.
- Maintain quotation records, cost databases, and standard costing information.
- Assist in process improvement initiatives to reduce manufacturing costs and improve quotation efficiency.
- Support engineering change requests (ECO/ECN) by updating quotation and cost information.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Engineering Manager or Management.
Requirements
- Diploma or above in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- 2–5 years of experience in quotation engineering, cost estimation, manufacturing engineering, or NPI.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, BOMs, and technical specifications.
- Knowledge of machining, welding, sheet metal fabrication, precision assembly, and semiconductor manufacturing processes is an advantage.
- Good understanding of manufacturing cost analysis and supplier sourcing.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple quotations within tight deadlines.
