Manufacturing Department Manager

Job Title

Position Overview:

To coordinate and direct the efforts of all staffing, materials, and equipment within the departments of Tufting and the Warehouse, to safely produce the highest quality carpet at the lowest possible cost.

Responsibilities:

• Manage department in terms of Safety, Quality, Productivity & Cost performance.
• Lead and develop a team consisting of nine team managers and one process engineer.
• Hold regular developmental meetings with Direct Reports and ensure individual development plans are in place for each.
• Establish goals for the department and implement & champion projects as necessary to ensure performance aligns with the goals.
• In conjunction with Human Resources, manage the hiring, discipline, and termination processes for the department.
• Ensure associate and management level issues are handled in a timely manner and ensure resolution is communicated to all parties involved.
• Drive employee engagement within the department through Monthly Round Table Meetings, the “Bright Idea” System & Team Accountability Meetings.
• Understand and Support all SAFE, SMS, TPM, Lean Six Sigma & Environmental Efforts within the department. Develop and implement plans to improve these areas where performance is under goal.
• Be an active member of Plant QIT & SLO committees.

Requirements:

• A four-year college degree
• Previous manufacturing management experience (This includes Process/Project Engineer experience)
• Must be able to work on all three shifts as required.
• Must be able to communicate both written and orally with individuals and large groups of people.

Preferred:

• Degree in an engineering field.
• Carpet manufacturing department management experience
