Job Overview
Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for sustaining, optimizing and developing making cable – extrusion process for high-speed wire and cable manufacturing. Lead continuous improvement activities focused on Safety, product quality, line performance, and material efficiency, ensuring compliance with EH&S and industry regulatory standards (UL, ISO).Working also in collaboration with multifunctional teams.
Responsibilities
• Lead process development and optimization for high-speed extrusion lines (single, dual, and co-extrusion).
• Define and control critical process parameters — temperature profiles, pressure, screw speed, and puller tension — ensuring stable and repeatable production.
• Conduct troubleshooting and root cause analysis (RCA) on product quality issues: Ovality, Concentricity, Wall Thickness, Adhesion, Elongation, Lumps/Necks, and surface defects.
• Perform medium and high-severity issue analysis (SI) and implement permanent corrective actions.
• Manage extrusion tooling : specification, maintenance, and advanced-level repair.
• Coordinate BOM reviews and ensure process documentation accuracy through document control systems.
• Develop and execute JSA (Job Safety Analysis) and LOTO audits, ensuring compliance with EH&S regulations.
• Maintain inventory and localization of critical spare parts for extrusion equipment. Multiple reviews to make sure every spare availability.
•Utilize SAP for production planning, process tracking, and maintenance management.
• Train technicians and operators in best extrusion practices, ensuring consistent process control and product quality.
• Leading and / or participate in multiple improvement projects.
• Support new product introduction (NPI) initiatives by defining extrusion parameters, material validation, and line trials. When support is required.
• Collaborate with materials engineering to qualify new polymers and optimize compound behavior under high-speed extrusion conditions. When support is required.
• Colleting manufacturing daily data, reviewing and pursue assigned KPI compliant.
• Formalize all engineering changes. Evaluate the impact before implementing them and then document it.
What your background should look like
• Strong understanding of making cable technology and high and low temperature polymer rheology and material behavior during extrusion process.
• Proven experience with extrusion tooling design, calibration, and die optimization as well as experience selecting type of material tooling must be made with.
• Familiar with crosshead selection according type of product as well as crosshead installation considering assembly and disassembly process of mechanical parts of it.
• Familiar with vacuum systems, and cooling systems used in cable manufacturing.
• Proficient in data analysis, SPC, and continuous improvement methodologies (Six Sigma, Lean).
• Knowledge of UL standards, insulation thickness control, and inline dimensional measurement systems.
• Hands-on experience with high-speed cable extrusion , and multi-layer constructions.
• Proven experience with lean manufacturing practices.
• Proficient in design software as SolidWorks and/or AutoCAD.
• Familiar with material handling and containerization techniques.
• Strong communications skills
• Proven experience with problem solving techniques.
•Excellent ability to interpret product drawings and requirements as well as engineering machinery drawings and diagrams.
