The Engineering Manager is responsible for leading the Engineering organization and providing the technical direction required to achieve the plant’s objectives in Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, Productivity, Capacity, and New Product Introduction (NPI).

This position leads to the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes, production equipment, automation, tooling, test systems, and manufacturing methods. The Engineering Manager works closely with Operations, Materials, Quality, Supply Chain, NPI, and Corporate Engineering to ensure the plant has the capability, capacity, technology, and processes required to meet current and future customer demand.

The Engineering Manager is expected to establish a strong data-driven and continuous-improvement culture, reducing manufacturing variation, improving productivity, increasing equipment utilization, reducing cycle time and conversion cost, and accelerating the industrialization of new products.

This position reports to the Plant Manager and will be based in Matamoros, Tamaulipas.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, develop, and manage the Plant Engineering organization establish Engineering priorities aligned with the plant’s strategic objectives.

  • Develop, implement, and optimize manufacturing processes for high-volume production.

  • Improve manufacturing flow, line balancing, ergonomics, work methods, and standard work to optimize labor content and manufacturing efficiency.

  • Support Operations in achieving production, quality, and productivity targets

  • Develop and execute the plant’s automation strategy, Identify opportunities for automation, robotics, test automation, material handling, and process digitization.

  • Ensure manufacturing equipment and production systems meet required capacity, quality, reliability, and safety standards, develop and maintain manufacturing capacity models based on forecast, backlog, standard hours, equipment capacity, and labor requirements.

  • Identify capacity constraints and develop mitigation plans.

  • Provide Engineering leadership during New Product Introduction activities, participate in Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) reviews and define manufacturing processes, equipment, tooling, fixtures, and test requirements for new products.

  • Lead Engineering initiatives focused on conversion-cost reduction, develop and executing annual productivity and cost-reduction roadmaps, identify capital expenditure proposals based on capacity, productivity, quality, automation, and technology requirements and preparing technical and financial justification, including ROI and payback analysis

  • Partner with Quality to improve process capability, manufacturing yields, and defect prevention, Support compliance with applicable standards such as ISO 9001, TL 9000, UL, CE, and ANSI/ESD S20.20, as applicable to the plant and products.

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.

  • Master’s degree in Engineering or Business Administration is preferred.

Experience

  • 8+ years of progressive manufacturing engineering experience.

  • 3+ years of engineering leadership or management experience.

  • Experience in high-volume manufacturing environments.

  • Experience with automated manufacturing equipment and production systems.

  • Experience with NPI and production ramp-up.

  • Experience in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement.

  • Experience managing capital projects and engineering budgets.

Preferred Industry Experience

Experience in one or more of the following is highly desirable:

  • Electronics manufacturing

  • Power supplies / PCB assembly / SMT / Electrical testing / Mechanical assembly
