Manufacturing Engineering

Summary:

This Manufacturing Engineer role supports the Chemical Operations Department and is responsible for developing, improving, and sustaining manufacturing processes for both new and existing products. The role focuses on enhancing efficiency, safety, quality, productivity, and cost within production operations. Key activities include reviewing product designs, creating work instructions, developing process routings, estimating labor and material costs, implementing production layouts, designing tooling and fixtures, conducting process capability studies, and driving continuous improvement through Lean, 5S, Kaizen, and process hazard analyses.

Key Responsibilities:

As a Manufacturing Engineer with Pacific Scientific EMC, you will be tasked with analyzing, developing, implementing, and maintaining methods, manufacturing operation sequences, specifications, and equipment requirements for production/assembly of new and existing products. Assist with sustaining and released product in manufacturing, with focus on metrics such as efficiency, safety, quality, productivity, and cost.

  • Reviews and interprets product design drawings and develops work instructions and process procedures to enable operational personnel to produce products in accordance with design specifications.

  • Develops process routings and labor standards for use in proposal cost estimating and shop floor control scheduling requirements.

  • Prepares labor, material, tooling, and equipment cost estimates for proposals.

  • Develops and implements production process layouts and production readiness plans.

  • Develops capital equipment specifications and supports capital equipment justification, installation, and start-up.

  • Designs tooling and fixturing for use in the production and inspection of company products.

  • Implements statistical process control and conducts process capability studies on critical processes.

  • Participates in design reviews to ensure the manufacturability of proposed designs.

  • Conducts process audits and time studies of existing processes for optimization and elimination of waste.

  • Conducts periodic Kaizen events.

  • Creates MPs (Manufacturing Procedures), DCNs (Document Change Notices), and SWIs (Special Work Instructions) for new and sustaining products, working with Document Control and the Technical Writers to develop and implement into production.

  • Develops PHA (Process Hazard Analysis) for required process’ in the production facility.

  • Utilize Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and Kaizen processes to improve the waste and efficiency of the production cells and process’.

Minimum Qualifications:

    • B.S. Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related Engineering Discipline

    • Equivalent technical discipline or experience in lieu of degree

    • Three (3) years minimum in a manufacturing environment required; One (1) year electronics experience preferred.

    • Demonstrated ability to effectively use Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) to perform daily job tasks.

    • SolidWorks/AutoCAD experience required.

    • Strong problem-solving skills required.

  • Automation programming experience a plus

Working Conditions:

  • Sustaining Manufacturing Engineer in support of Linear Explosive product lines

  • Remotely operated equipment to Load, Swag, Form & Cut explosive materials for Detonating/Deflagrating Cord and Shape Charge that will be used elsewhere is our facility to manufacture aerospace/defense product
