Alstern Marine & Offshore Pte Ltd, founded in 2011 and headquartered in Singapore, distributes Sealxpert pipeline maintenance, repair, and overhaul products globally. It supports manufacturing, assembly, inventory management, and fulfilment of industrial MRO products from its Singapore operations.
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Manufacturing Operations Manager to lead and manage the Company's manufacturing operations and operational planning activities in Singapore.
Responsibilities
- Lead manufacturing operations to achieve targets in productivity, quality, cost, capacity, and delivery performance.
- Develop and execute manufacturing and production plans aligned with customer demand, order requirements, and business priorities.
- Manage production scheduling, manpower planning, and resource allocation to optimize operational utilization and delivery outcomes.
- Establish and monitor operational KPIs, analyze manufacturing performance data, and implement improvement actions.
- Plan and control materials and inventory for raw materials, components, work-in-progress, and finished goods to ensure availability and optimal stock levels.
- Collaborate with Procurement to secure timely materials supply and resolve supply or production constraints.
- Coordinate with Sales and other functions to align manufacturing capacity and priorities with customer requirements and delivery commitments.
- Develop and refine operating procedures, production controls, and workflows to enhance manufacturing efficiency and consistency.
- Monitor production costs, material usage, waste, and expenses; implement cost-control and productivity improvement initiatives.
- Lead continuous improvement programs targeting process optimization, productivity gains, waste reduction, quality enhancement, and operational efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with QA/QC standards, workplace safety regulations, and company policies in manufacturing operations.
- Investigate production, quality, material, and operational issues using root-cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive measures.
- Oversee maintenance planning and ensure operational readiness of manufacturing equipment and facilities.
- Develop workforce plans and provide leadership in manpower deployment, performance management, training, and capability development.
- Identify operational risks and implement mitigation strategies to maintain business continuity and reliable manufacturing performance.
- Prepare management reports on production performance, capacity utilization, inventory, costs, quality, and improvement initiatives with actionable recommendations.
- Collaborate with senior management to assess manufacturing capacity, operational needs, process improvements, and future resource requirements.
- Lead cross-functional initiatives involving Manufacturing, Procurement, Sales, Warehouse, and other departments to enhance end-to-end operational performance.
Required competencies and certifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related engineering discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in manufacturing, production, or industrial operations, preferably in Marine, Offshore, MRO, or industrial sectors.
- Proven experience managing manufacturing or production operations including production planning, resource allocation, material planning, and operational performance.
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, inventory/material control, quality management, and operational workflow management.
- Experience in operational improvement, productivity enhancement, cost management, and process optimization.
- Experience leading and developing operational teams and coordinating cross-functional resources.
- Strong analytical, planning, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Good understanding of QA/QC systems, ISO standards, and workplace safety requirements.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills to work effectively with senior management and cross-functional teams.
- Ability to manage multiple operational priorities and make effective decisions in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Preferred competencies and qualifications
- Experience with MRO products, industrial components, or marine/offshore products.
