Job Summary:
The Manufacturing Site Reliability Engineer Level 1 supports the setup, operation, and maintenance of Linux and Windows infrastructure that enables production line execution. This role is responsible for deploying, configuring, and monitoring systems to ensure reliability, security, and performance, while responding to incidents and maintaining system health.
This position is part of the Engineering Services team, which provides cross-functional technical support to engineering and manufacturing operations. The team works closely with Testing Engineers, Debug Engineers, Quality Engineers, IT, Electrical and Software Engineers, Program Managers, and customers to deliver and support Pre-Executable Environment (PXE) infrastructure. This is an onsite role with on-call responsibility for incident response and system support.
Duties/Responsibilities

· Install, configure, and maintain Linux and Windows server systems, including OS deployment and upgrades.
· Set up boot environments (PXE, iPXE), disk formatting, cloning, and filesystem configurations.
· Implement basic security hardening, including firewall configuration, patching, and system protection.
· Create and manage user accounts, groups, and permissions (IAM concepts).
· Configure and support server storage and network services such as NFS, DNS, SSH, VLANs, and routing (Layer 2/Layer 3).
· Monitor system performance, uptime, and availability using standard monitoring tools.
· Develop and maintain automation scripts (Bash, Python) for routine tasks, including cron jobs and basic orchestration (e.g., Ansible, Jenkins).
· Implement and support backup and recovery processes to ensure system resilience.
· Assist with cloud and virtualization environments, including virtual machines, containers (Docker), and Kubernetes basics.
· Deploy and configure physical PXE servers used in production line environments.
· Maintain OS, network, filesystem, and service configurations on PXE infrastructure.
· Monitor PXE systems 24/7 and respond to incidents to restore service quickly.
· Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and network issues impacting system availability.
· Coordinate with cross-functional teams to support system setup, changes, and issue resolution.
· Serve as a point of contact for PXE infrastructure support and collaborate with networking and engineering teams.
· Perform additional duties as assigned to support operational requirements.
Competencies:
- Hands-on experience with Linux and Windows server administration in a production or lab environment.
- Understanding of server hardware, system configuration, and basic system validation.
- Familiarity with networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, VLAN, routing).
- Basic scripting skills in Bash and/or Python for automation.
- Exposure to system monitoring, logging, and incident response practices.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure issues under time constraints.
- Strong communication skills to work effectively in a cross-functional environment.
- Ability to follow procedures, work independently, and manage assigned responsibilities.
- Willingness to work onsite and participate in on-call rotations.
- Certifications in Linux, networking, or cybersecurity are a plus.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
- 0–3 years of experience in Linux/Windows system administration, infrastructure support, or related technical roles.
- Exposure to production environments, server deployment, or infrastructure operations preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Work is performed primarily on the active manufacturing and production floor environment.
- Ability to lift, carry, and move localized electronic assemblies or inspection tools weighing up to 25 pounds on an occasional basis.
- Ability to stand, walk, and perform mobile floor auditing activities for extended periods as required by patrol schedules.
