Candidates for the Marine Operations Analyst role should possess knowledge of and interest in the marine transport industry.
What You Will Do
The Marine Operations Analyst is an active participant on the marine shipping operations team performing numerous tasks such as:
Supporting Freight Traders
- Charter Party review and analysis
- Charter Party database management
- Monthly review of claims and resolutions
Supporting Vessel Operations Coordinators (VOCs)
- Voyage data management using tools such as IMOS, Power BI, and Microsoft SharePoint
- Develop and maintain shipping and process flow metrics to identify and close gaps
- Analysis and/or draft freight, freight related, and secondary shipping claims
Voyage Accounting
- Create cost records in the Shipping groups operational software (IMOS) related to items such as vessel hire, freight, and voyage costs (port, 3rd party support, etc.)
Key Attributes
- Ability to analyze data with a high level of attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to review and negotiate post deal receivables maintaining the maximum claim amount
- Ability to review post deal payables ensuring accurate payments
- Ability to effectively and professionally communicate through both written correspondence and verbal communication
- High level of motivation
- Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills
- Team-player
- Ability to create metrics by pulling data from multiple sources
- Ability to handle numerous tasks simultaneously and perform under pressure
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
- Bachelor's Degree (Maritime, Accounting, Business, Finance, Mathematics preferred)
- Experience in demurrage/post deal claims
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
What Will Put You Ahead
- Marine logistics or shipping experience
- Experience with charter party agreements
- Experience in a trading environment
