Haida United Marine Services (Singapore) Pte. Ltd. (“HDUM”) is an established marine surveying and technical consultancy company serving shipowners, ship managers, charterers, P&I Clubs, hull and machinery insurers, financial institutions and other maritime industry clients.
The Singapore office supports marine survey and consultancy assignments in Singapore and Southeast Asia and works closely with HDUM’s headquarters and regional teams in Hong Kong, Mainland China and other locations.
Job Description
We are seeking a motivated student to join our Marine Division as a Marine Operations & Technical Support Intern.
The intern will assist with marine service documentation, assignment coordination, administrative work and communication between the Singapore office and HDUM’s regional teams.
Job Responsibilities
- Assist in receiving, recording and following up on marine survey and consultancy assignments.
- Organise marine service documents, vessel information, photographs, attendance records and supporting materials.
- Update assignment registers, surveyor schedules and report submission records.
- Assist in formatting and checking survey reports and correspondence under supervision.
- Follow up on outstanding information and documents with surveyors and internal team members.
- Assist in collecting vessel information and conducting basic maritime and technical research.
- Support communication, information exchange and coordination between the Singapore office and HDUM’s teams in Hong Kong, Mainland China and other regions.
- Assist in preparing quotations, presentations, spreadsheets and other business documents.
- Provide general administrative and documentation support to the Marine Division.
- Assist with basic invoicing, filing and record-keeping matters.
- Participate in on-the-job training relating to marine survey coordination, technical documentation and consultancy services.
- Perform other related duties assigned by the management.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a diploma or degree in Maritime Studies, Shipping, Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, Logistics, Business Administration or another relevant discipline.
- Strong interest in the marine, shipping or technical consultancy industry.
- Good command of written and spoken English.
- Some assignments may involve Chinese-language vessel records, survey documents or technical correspondence. The ability to understand and process such documents would be an advantage but is not mandatory.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Responsible, organised and attentive to detail.
- Good interpersonal, communication and teamwork skills.
- Willing to learn and able to complete assigned work within the required deadlines.
- Available for an internship period of at least three months.
