Marine Service Engineer

Summary

Maintains and repairs marine engines, auxiliary systems, and shipboard equipment on-site, ensuring operational safety and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot issues with marine engines, auxiliary engines, steering systems, and other components etc.
  • Perform repairs on inboard and outboard engines, including fuel systems, cooling systems, and exhaust systems.
  • Conduct routine maintenance to ensure all shipboard systems are working in satisfactory order.
  • Ensure the cleanliness of the ship and engine room when onboard
  • Provide detailed reports on work performed and explain the nature of repairs and services to customers.
  • Safety and Compliance:
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations related to marine service and repairs.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
  • Maintain accurate records of services performed, including time, parts used, and labour.
  • Utilize service management software to log and track repairs and maintenance tasks.
  • Team Collaboration:
  • Work closely with other technicians and service team members to ensure efficient workflow and customer satisfaction.
  • Assist in training and mentoring junior technicians as needed.
  • Any other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

  • Diploma or equivalent; technical certification or associate degree in marine mechanics or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in marine service and repair.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with diagnostic tools and marine service equipment.
  • Knowledge of marine engines, aux engines and cargo pumps.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects, work in various weather conditions, and perform physically demanding tasks.
