Market Chief Risk & Compliance Officer

The opportunity

You will be at the heart of transforming risk and compliance management in a rapidly evolving payments environment. You will have the autonomy, resources, and support to build a world-class Risk & Compliance function, recognized for operational excellence and independence. You will lead the risk management strategy, regulatory compliance framework, and financial crime prevention for Worldline FS EU. As CRCO, you will be a key member of the Business Unit's executive team, provide high-level governance to the Board of Directors and Risk Committee, and report functionally to the Group's Chief Risk and Compliance Officer.

Day-to-day responsibilities

  • Risk Governance and Strategy: Design and deploy an enterprise risk management framework for FS EU (taxonomy, risk appetite, KRIs). You will ensure proactive risk identification, robust forward-looking analysis (stress tests, scenarios), and clear reporting to senior management and the Board.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Guarantee full adherence to European regulatory frameworks (PSD2/PSD3, DORA, NIS2, GDPR, EBA directives). You will be the primary regulatory contact, drive regulatory change initiatives, and deploy compliance management systems across a multi-jurisdictional environment.
  • Financial Crime Prevention: Lead the AML/CTF program, sanctions screening, and anti-corruption efforts. You will oversee the KYC/KYB process, transaction monitoring, and Suspicious Activity Reporting (SAR), while integrating fraud and AML/CTF controls into a comprehensive financial crime prevention approach.
  • Operational Governance: provide independent challenge on business initiatives and strategic decisions, and foster a robust risk culture across the organization at an effective three-lines-of-defense model,
  • Transformation and Innovation: Leverage data analytics and AI/ML capabilities for risk management and fraud detection. You will oversee the deployment of high-performance tools and real-time controls, tailored to instant payments and digital commerce.
  • Leadership and Team Building: Lead and develop high-performing teams, ensure coordination between Group and local teams, and manage resources and external partnerships effectively.

You bring an extensive experience (15+ years) in risk management, compliance, and financial crime prevention within the payments, banking, or fintech sector, with a proven leadership experience at a regulated FI such as credit institution, payment service provider, electronic money institution, or merchant acquiring business.


Essential Skills and Expertise:

  • Regulatory Mastery: Deep knowledge of European regulatory frameworks (PSD2/PSD3, EBA, AMLD, DORA,NIS2) and demonstrated ability to engage with regulators
  • Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of payment ecosystems, fraud risks, AML/CTF practices, and merchant acquiring operations
  • Strategic Leadership: Ability to design and scale governance frameworks, build high-caliber teams, and operate effectively in complex, multi-jurisdictional environments
  • Analytical & Data-Driven Mindset: Proficiency in data-driven decision-making and leveraging advanced technologies (analytics, AI/ML, automation)
  • Integrity and Sound Judgment: Independent judgment, exemplary integrity, and capacity to provide constructive challenge to governance bodies
  • Stakeholder Influence & Management: Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with teams, senior management, and the Board of Directors
