Job Description:
The Market Data Business Analyst will report to the ST&S Global Manager, Market Data, and will support all aspects of market data business analysis, including (but not limited to):
- Review product and service requests from the business to ensure suitability, consistency, and cost effectiveness
- Recommend data sourcing options aligned to business needs
- Analyse market data pricing, subscriptions, and reference data feeds, including related processes and enterprise data management
- Apply a working knowledge of market data challenges (e.g., global differences, cross-asset vendor identifiers, legal entity data, file formats, usage rights, and compliance)
- Monitor and provide updates on rights policies for exchanges and trading venues, as applicable
- Build strong partnerships with internal stakeholders and vendors
- Conduct onsite visits across the bp group, liaising with business users
- Provide on-demand data cost optimisation insights to support cost management
- Maintain a strong understanding of real-time and non-real-time market data systems, services, and subscriptions
- Apply knowledge of entitlements and permissioning systems
- Demonstrate an appreciation of the technical delivery systems used for market data
- Perform product comparisons and gap analysis
- Prepare and present financials, spend analysis, and reporting
- Partner across all levels of seniority within the bp group to deliver value, consistency, and transparency
What You Will Deliver
The Market Data Business Analyst will also:
- Collaborate across ST&S, Downstream, and Upstream business units to provide guidance on market data services, products, and strategy
- Demonstrate an understanding of data lakes and requirements for data and data structure
- Ensure the highest levels of compliance for global market data products and services
- Build and champion partnerships across bp to support the delivery of market data initiatives
- Evaluate and support delivery of new business initiatives involving the use of market data within bp
- Liaise with market data vendors and bp business units to communicate strategy, strengthen partnerships, and identify underlying issues
- Operate effectively at a global level; build relationships with global and local teams (e.g., Finance, Product Control, E&C) and take responsibility for agreed objectives
- Partner with Procurement to develop vendor-specific negotiation approaches and strategy to achieve the best outcomes for bp
- Understand and assess vendor offerings, services, products, and roadmaps to ensure the right fit for bp and support implementation of related strategies
What You Will Need to Be Successful
- Business analysis experience within market data (preferred)
- Demonstrable commercial experience
- Proven track record of liaising with colleagues at all levels across IT and the business
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to articulate and negotiate priorities with business users, IT teams, and vendors
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Self-motivated, enthusiastic, and able to learn rapidly
- Excellent teamwork skills
- Strong focus on strategic implementation and delivery, with effective stakeholder and vendor management
