Description

Job Summary
Our client is a well-established, integrated global agribusiness and agricultural commodity trading house headquartered in Singapore. We are seeking a hands-on, commercially astute Market Risk Manager to lead the group’s middle-office risk framework, oversee trading limit enforcement, and partner directly with executive leadership.

Reporting directly to Executive Management, you will own the end-to-end market risk governance across physical supply chains, hedging books, and derivative portfolios. This role is ideal for a seasoned risk professional who combines deep quantitative discipline (VaR, PFE, stress testing) with the institutional authority to challenge trading desks and protect company margins.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Trading Book Oversight & Governance: Monitor and manage market risk exposures across physical agri-commodities and derivative books (outright price risk, basis risk, FX, structure, and refining margins).
  • Limit Enforcement & Trader Challenge: Establish, review, and strictly enforce position, VAR, and stop-loss limits across commercial trading desks. Provide constructive, firm challenge to the front office during periods of high market volatility.
  • Risk Modeling & Analytics: Develop and refine robust risk models, stress-testing frameworks, scenario analyses, and Mark-to-Market (MTM) calculations to evaluate forward portfolio risks.
  • Executive Committee Reporting: Deliver clear, actionable portfolio analytics, exposure reports, and risk insights directly to the Executive Risk Committee and Board.
  • Process & Controls Modernization: Enhance internal risk infrastructure, quantitative tools, and reporting workflows to align with institutional best practices.

Requirements:

  • 8–12+ years of progressive risk management experience within an agricultural commodity trading house, physical supply chain business, energy firm, or tier-1 financial institution.
  • Degree in Quantitative Finance, Actuarial Science, Financial Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field. CFA or FRM designations are highly regarded.
  • Proven track record in quantitative risk modeling, VaR calculations, derivative pricing, and physical-to-derivative hedging mechanics (experience with Palm Oil Futures/FCPO, soft commodities, or regional agricultural derivatives is highly advantageous).
  • Strong personal authority and institutional discipline to enforce risk policies while maintaining collaborative relationships with trading heads.
